I think this show will enter History as the musical that flopped even before the premiere lol It's looking that way. But then again who cares as long as the ticket sales are good.

Wow, just, wow. Without the internet for months and it still hasn't opened. Here I was thinking it'd be closed by now.

I honestly don't see any hope for this one, especially now that even Taymor has left.

Well, this one finally opened last night! Some of the reviews were positive (some even very positive), some mixed and some negative. Interesting to see how the ticket sales will do, will the word of mouth and general interest keep the show up and running or will this show disappear after a couple of months.

Roundabout of reviews here : broadwayworld.com/article_/index.php?article=Review-Roundup-SPIDER-MAN-20-on-Broadway-All-the-Reviews-20110614I don't know where you saw very positive reviews...the best I saw was from the NY Daily News ""Spider-Man" isn't a great, gourmet meal, but it's a tasty diversion" All others are either "meh" or bad. And Judging by the CD that I bought at a store here yesterday (yes, they are selling it here...it's "from U2!"...-_-' ) the musical quality of it sucks. I can only enjoy both "Rise Above" 1 and 2 that as the Financial Times said is nothing more than a "by-the-numbers U2 power ballad" and stand the "Overture" and "If the world should end"

Fantasma-- when you started playing the CD, did you immediately start thinking you were gonna hear some familiar U2 songs? I swear that the opening notes of "NY debut" sound like the opening notes of Sunday, Bloody Sunday.
A friend has listened to the CD and says he has no clue how any of the songs fit in the show. I reminded him that it might not be in show order.

Not immediatly...by the 2nd song . Some songs really seem right out of a U2 CD. Others unfortunately are just plain awful. (I would probably like it better if they were actually all U2 songs...) I also have no idea how the songs fit in the show, which isn't helped by the fact that there's no synopsis whatsoever on the CD. (Even though it's just a Concept). The only songs I can imagine how they fit are "if the world should end" ('cause I saw it on the Tony's) and "Pull the trigger" since it's the only one that seems to have A BIT of story in it... The song "A Freak like me needs company" seems to sum up the show pretty much for me...lol Edit: I went to listen to Sunday, Bloody Sunday. You're quite right scarlet, it does the beggining of NY Debut does sound like it!

Even though the score could be (and should be, considering who's written it!) a whole lot better, the songs actually do fit into the show. At least they did when I saw the show in Feb before the "Make-Over". OK, not the best show in town, not the best book for a show, but still. Only " Rise Above (rep.)" stood out as an odd one, as I felt it was a bit weird song to end the show with. What I didn't like about the CD was the fact that Bono himself was singing quite a lot. They should have just done it with the OBC, no matter how much a concept CD this one is supposed to be.
