Are there any shows out there that you guys think didn't get a fair chance? Or ones that you would just like to see a new production of?
I think Jane Eyre is hugely under-rated, it just hit Broadway at the wrong time. If it had opened back in the era of Phantom and Les Mis, it might have been a big hit.
Parade is a beautiful show that suffered from really poor advertising.
And I really loved The Beautiful Game, I haven't understood why it wasn't more successful in London.
I would love to see Chess finally back on Broadway, either based on the new Swedish production, or a new concept.
Just a few off the top of my head...any others?

Martin Guerre. Martin Guerre. Martin Guerre. I really like The Secret Garden, but I don't even know how well it was recieved in the first place *shrugs* Can't think of any others. Almost all of the musicals I listen to I listen to because I know they're good. hah.

The Show 'Working'. Amazing show, hilarious, has a catchy theme, and had a good message at the end.

Underrated show? Hmmm, let me think about this.....
Jane Eyre!!!!! ;D
Seriously, it really is a shame that this beautiful show did not have a long life on Broadway. 8 months was way too short. *sniff*

Working is indeed a fun show.
I agree that Parade is definatly an underated show. Depressing beyond belief, but a great show. Another one is My Favorite Year. It's a fun light-hearted show, that would probably have faired better if it came out later.

I'd agree about Jane Eyre. I never saw the show, but I love the soundtrack.
I would've loved to see Side Show, too.
I've been listening to The Civil War: an American musical. I don't know how it worked on stage, but it has some really moving songs.

Da mn Yankees, Bye Bye Birdie and the Pajama Game.
All musical classics, but also very overlooked, and inculde some of Broadway's most memorable songs (DY: Whatever Lola Wants, Heart; BBB: Put on a Happy Face, Kids; PG: Hey There, Steam Heat) I'd love to see pages of them on this website, actually.

My, My Someone's a Wicked Fanatic. I thought it was good but it went way too far into the movie plot rather than sticking to the Wizard of Oz book as the Wicked book did. Anywho another show you also don't hear about much anymore is Up Up and Away the Superman musical. Very well written, good special effect required, but just not recognized too much. Oh yeah and the Producers is starting a downward decent and I think it's great too.

Not when the RENT movie comes out. Then it'll be moving down the list next to Chicago. Musical movies tend to just bump each other down a few notches.
