I recall in Stacy's experience of seeing the broadway show, she said there was a lot more music than on the soundtrack. There's one complete song that's cut from the cd alltogether because of plot things.

^^ I hate it when they do that because the recording should be as close as to what they're singing on stage.

*shrug* my take of it is it was mostly dialogue and it was too revealing of plot happenings in act 2 to be edited and still sound halfway like it does in the show.

'Wicked' was the fastest selling Broadway CD in Dress Circle!!!! I got hooked on the CD, loved the music and the performances. So was really looking forward to seeing the show when I went to Broadway last year. And was it worth it? For me yes:-) I wouldn't say that it was perfect, but it was brilliant. So good in fact that we gave up an afternoons sightseeing to see it again! And it was great that the performances were as per the CD as we saw all the original cast:-)
Its colourful and fun:-) Having read the book since, I can see the plot changes fit more to the stage. Having a love triangle is a good plot ruse always! And brings the central characters together more too, the core of the musical is the relationship between Glinda and Elphaba, but is not the main hub of the book.
I only had a couple of gripes. The flying at the end of the first act, though I absolutely love the song, wasn't as amazing as it could be. I understand of course that the actress playing Elfie has to still be able to belt as well as fly but that she was on a podium wasn't well covered up enough. Also I felt that the staging for 'As Long As You're Mine' was lacking in invention. Plus having listened to the CDs loads of times, some of Glinda's speech about having what she wanted but it not being perfect seemed more like an aside, yet on stage its all sung into the microphone out loud.
Its still on my CD player, about the only one at the moment in English! And can't wait to see the show again this September:-)

Wicked is one of my fave shows. I don't know why through LOL but I don't need a reason to like it ;D
Part of me wishes there would be a sit-down production in Toronto, but the other part of me says no (strangely, that part of me also makes the money dessions... LOL)

Yay! My friend lent me the CD....finally! Well I've only listened to half and I have to say, I like it! The songs are catchy and although not one of my favourites I would probably see it if it ever came near me.

Quick question?! How is 'Wicked' done if its not sit down? Does the audience literally stand up? or is it table and chairs? Not come across this before! Thanks!

Sit down refers to a non-touring production. After the US Tour cast left Chicago, a "sit-down" production was established with Ana Gasteyer as Elphaba. The show is on an open-ended run in Chicago, much like Phantom in Toronto was in the 90s. The Wicked tour is now playing in Los Angeles, and Wicked in Chicago just started public performances.

Jenna Leigh Green is who you saw :-). If you've ever seen Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Jenna played Libby (the evil, snobby girl.) She was also Ivy in Bare. It's a shame you didn't get to see Stephanie as Elphaba when you wanted to. However, it seems to be a common problem. I hear that she's been out of the show a lot still. You're not alone . Have you written a review of seeing Jenna as Elphaba for the reviews forum here?
