Non-Equity ?? what does that mean?? plz let me know in a easy way... -_-; My Achilles!! It basically just means they aren't part of the actor's union yet...so they are basically complete newbies to any sort of professional production (someone feel free to correct me if I'm not explaining that very well). They're just not considere professional because they are not apart of the union. Some of them are not total newbies and are quite good. It's just that when it comes to Rent I've had bad luck with them. |

Yah, RENT likes having people off the street in it (I remember going to the site once and they had a little pop-up for auditions asking for people that had actually lived on the street and such)

Okay, maybe someone can help me .... I saw Andy Meeks as Mark on Tour in Feb. of 2005. Is that the Equity or Non-Equity Tour? I'm thinking Non-Equity.

Okay, maybe someone can help me .... I saw Andy Meeks as Mark on Tour in Feb. of 2005. Is that the Equity or Non-Equity Tour? I'm thinking Non-Equity. Non-equity. Since the tour that's around right now isn't equity, the last equity tour was the Benny tour. Which closed quite some time ago. |

Equity is just the name of the Union in the US (it's Actors Equity Union or something). The name of the Union in Canada is ACTRA (which stands for something I think). It's possible the tour you saw featured actors who were members of an Asian Actor's Union. There is usually a note burried somewhere in the playbill that will tell you what Unions the people in the show & working on it are members of. Hope this helps |

I'm pretty sure all the American cast members of the Asian tour are Equity. Don't ask me how it works when they work overseas and what not.

But there was a cast that Jo saw a couple years ago (??) that was Asian Actors, preformed in Korean (I think) hehehehe I also think we are confusing her |

Lol, sorry. Jo- Always feel free to ask away and just yell at me if I get confusing.  The Korean cast from a few years ago would follow whatever rules you have there. The Asian tour (did it start last year) that had Americans and the famous Asian singer (I don't recall her name) was what I was referring to. The Americans that are taking part of that production are all Equity. |

The Korean cast from a few years ago would follow whatever rules you have there. The Asian tour (did it start last year) that had Americans and the famous Asian singer (I don't recall her name) was what I was referring to. The Americans that are taking part of that production are all Equity.
