I saw Drew's first performance as Valjean in London and he waas one of the few redeeming featuers in the London production... he was fantastic, and I'm looking forward to going back to see him at some point - hopefully with Stephen John Davis as Javert. -FJ

lol, the currently not running broadway production. I feel bad for him. What timing. I'm still waiting for Drew to perform a one man Les Mis.

I saw Drew a couple of weeks ago and he was excellent Particularly his acting. I liked the way that he didn't suddenly become 'good' overnight like some Valjeans do, and he retained an angry edge. At times it seemed, particularly in the Prayer, that he didn't know what key to sing it in so sung both high and low! Overall though he was great:) It was weird to see LM and watch Valjean I usually watch Javert! Whilst HPJ is not that bad as Javert he's definitely not my favourite (although he is a better Javert than he was JVJ in my opinion). It is a shame for John that the show will close in January before he's done a full 6 month stint. But still a good experience for him.

I've already seen the new Broadway Les Mis twice and I don't know if I can afford to go see it a third time but I really want to see JOJ! Maybe he'll stick around and do Phantom after?? Wishful thinking, I know.

This is the next musical I want to see (alongside Hairspray) because I love the songs. It doesn't really matter who plays Jean Valjean. I'm not much for Colm's irish accent. I think I would like to see John Owen-Jones because he played the Phantom. That's the only reason really. I think Jean Valjean is probably harder to perform than Phantom because of the music and lyrics. They are very difficult to get right.

I think Mr JOJ himself said that the phantom is more demanding as your running all over the theatre and if your not doing that your getting your make up touched up.

Glad people like him over here! From what I've heard, JOJ is getting a great responce in NYC. I haven't seen him (and I probilly won't cause my mom's said I've seen Les Mis too many times (3 times at a high school production a few years ago and 2 times with Drew (as Grantaire and Valjean) plus I own a tape of the high school proformance and the DVD of the concert) but I've heard great things about him. I hope Drew comes back to the US after Les Mis.
Um....and I don't mean to sound mean or anything but, death, have you given Drew a chance? Have ya heard his performance yet? Drew's really good.

I never said I doubted Drew's ability once. It's just JOJ is my idol! ;D So That's why I'm depressed he's gone.

Drew Sarich seems to originate every role he takes on even if he's replacing someone LOL! He always brings something new and his portrayal is always unique and original. I never got to see his Valjean, but I did see him as Javert on Broadway and I was so glad to have seen it. I mean, Philip Quast will ALWAYS be Javert to me, but Drew Sarich added such passion and edge to the character that I hadn't seen before. It was especially refreshing after seeing Norm Lewis as Javert. He wasn't intimidating at all. He was just like an annoying middle man to avoid, not a frightening inspector who could kill you with a sharp glance. (Not to bash Norm Lewis or anything. I love his voice.) Does anyone know how long Drew will be playing Valjean in London? I'm tossing around the idea of going back to London this summer and I would love to see him in Les Mis! I already saw Les Mis in London once before (with Michael McCarthy as Javert *dreamy sigh*) and it was one of the best theatrical experiences I've ever had. I wouldn't mind going again...and seeing Drew

Does anyone know how long Drew will be playing Valjean in London? Drew is staying until 21 June (an extra three months on his original contract), supposedly he has work lined up on the continent. Almost the entire cast is being shown the door that day, and Cameron M. is effectively cleaning house on a very stale production.

Does this mean they might be closing it or just totally revamping it, cause I will hunt CM down and kill him!
