Hmmm...the "Brae" thing...no-one I know from the South-West of Scotland uses "brae" to mean "hills"...I have heard it used on tv programmes and stuff, come to think of it. I think it may be a highland thing? Oh well it's a nice name anyway =D
EDIT : And of course there's the Scots song "Ye Banks and Braes"

Back to topic... ;D I've got absolutely no imagination, and that's why I am using my real name... Later, when I registered to another forum, I wanted a name that wasn't too clearly inspired from a musical (no Christine Daee, to say one), and I chose Glinda.. I like it, but I prefer the simple Martina...

This thread has been revived for you courtesy of playnerd94!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My screen name comes from two different things. First, and easier to explain: '94, the year I was born (creative, huh?!?!) And Second: playnerd. Around 2 years ago, a friend of mine (not into theatre ) in an attempt to call me a "Theatre-Geek" (I'd guess) called me a "Playnerd". I liked it, so I kept it.

Post by Valancy on Oct 30, 2008 4:50:03 GMT -5
I never seem to have posted here. Valancy is the name of the heroine of L.M. Montgomery's The Blue Castle. Montgomery is one of my favourite writers and Valancy one of my favourite literary heroines. The name is beautiful, and it's rare enough that it's not too often taken up on forums, so it seemed like a good name at the time when I was searching for a screen name for some purpose or another (I don't think this forum was the first place where I used it). I've grown so fond of the name now that I pretty much use it everywhere where I need screen names; it seems to have become a part of me.

Mine couldn't be more basic... Fantasma da Opera = Phantom of the Opera in portuguese Pretty simple. Why? Well it was my first musical and I've became fond of the name that I also use it for pretty much everything net connected. It not even my favourite Musical anymore (really!?) but it was the first so...

Post by Nene on Oct 30, 2008 7:29:30 GMT -5
It seems I never posted in here either! Lol. Well, despite Nene being a name, that's not how I started using it. Basically, I am a LOTR dork. That being said if you have a copy of the Silmarillion then you know there is an appendix in the back for the Elven language. I put together the words nen and el. Didn't like them alone together so I tossed on a yan ending, which I think isn't anywhere in the Silmarillion, I just used it. I abandoned Nenelyan for awhile because I used to fight snark back with being snarky and I wanted to separate myself from that when I started posting on theatre boards. People would always shorten that screen name to Nen and Nene. Nene just kinda stuck.

Santtu has been my nickname ever since I was a kid. Only a couple of people use it nowadays, though.

my name comes from the strong willed character of the "Golden Girls" Dorothy Zbornak. I adore that show and to hear Lifetime is loosing its rerun rights makes me sad.
It also can do with me adoring Bea Arthur so that's another thing.

I have a few screenames. Do ya want to know about all of them?
First, the one I have here:
Minesayrejoice would have been "My Keds Say Rejoice".......if that wasn't too long. Some people get the short one, some don't. It's a Godspell reference. You know the part where Stephen/Jesus says "Did I ever tell you I used to read feet?" and someone (Jeffrey Mylett's track) says "You used to what?" and he replies "Yes. See, it says 'rejoice'" and the person looks at their shoe and says "It says 'Keds'"......that's where it comes from.
EriksWife/Erik'swife: I came accross a bunch of girls/women on Phantom boards with screenames like they were dating Erik.........but none had thought of "marrying" him. So now I'm like "I'm his wife. Who are you?"
Jewelkat: I was obbssessed with CATS, and my favorite characters are Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer. I created their kleptomaniac daughter named Jewel (for the lovely things they all...acquire). The "kat" was added because she's a cat.
GavrocheGrrl: I love Les Mis, and I love Gavroche. It just means I'm a girl who loves Gavroche. He's a little cutie-pie.
