Wasn't there already a thread for Wonderland? Well anyway, thank's for pointing that out. I must say, if Frank hasn't changed much of this vision for this score since the last time I heard him playing the songs, this won't be very thrilling. The show runs in very Avril Lavigne/Shakira/Ricky Martin kind of songs and none really interesting. Still...the music manages to be better than Shakira's LOL ;D By the way, here's the official website: www.wonderlandthemusical.org/

Wasn't there already a thread for Wonderland? I didn't bother searching since I can never find them when I know there's one. I am sure we have a thread about it somewhere and if it wasn't started by you, it was probably started by me.

Wildhorn's WONDERLAND will open on BROADWAY on April 17th 2011 with previews starting on March 17th. From the original Cast, only Nikki Snelson, who played The Mad Hatter, and Eugene Fleming (Catterpillar) aren't expected to perform. I'm sad to see Nikki go...I would rather have them kicking out the dreadfull Janet Dacal. Official website up, but still in construction www.wonderlandonbroadway.com/

Did not expect to see that news on playbill today. I am surprised that someone is giving him another chance on Broadway.

I think that the fact that Wildhorn is a sucess everywere in the world EXCEPT on B'way may have something to do with it. I don't see a reason for it not to open on B'way. Logic doesn't apply to it anymore. Just look at The Addams Family, the critics hated it, yet it already recouped the money spent (and the book is as bad as the music is meh at best.) WONDERLAND's music at least is better and meets the "type" of music that is now a trend on B'way. If you ask my personal opinion, however, I think Frank should have left the USA a long time ago. Clearly B'way has something against him and if my works were loved around the globe with that one exception I would have told the B'way-snobs to go _ _ _ _ themselfs already

I think that the fact that Wildhorn is a sucess everywere in the world EXCEPT on B'way may have something to do with it. I could say something about the Vienna production of Rudolf here. Not exactly a success. I think it's a bit of a myth to say that Wildhorn is a huge success elsewhere. There are productions of his shows, and they aren't usually flops, but it doesn't seem to me most do more than moderately well. Most of the productions are rather small and not in very central locations, either.

Indeed. However Jekyll & Hyde did well. And both J&H and The Scarlet Pimpernel were also staged in Staatz. When I mean sucess, I mean many Theaters stage his shows. If he was the awfull-walking-disaster that B'way critics and snobs like to say he is, his shows wouldn't be staged and Theaters wouldn't comission him to create musicals for them. Examples: - Monte Cristo was comissioned by Theater St.Gallen; - Takarazuka comissioned "Never Say Goodbye" which made him the first american composer to ever create music specially for Takarazuka; - Carmen was commissioned by the Czech (national?) Theater who staged J&H - and the Theater in South Korea that staged J&H and Monte Cristo commissioned him with a new show - Tears from Heaven - which will premiere next year.) Since I never saw any other B'way composer being asked to do so, either the american-composers are arrogant to the point of refusing to create shows to premiere in a different language or then they are not "popular" enough to get asked... As for the productions being big or small...well it depends. But for example Carmen is now in its 3rd year on stage, Monte Cristo will end after 3 years (I know there are not many performances, but if it didn't sell, they wouldn't extend it I think...) and the german production of Jekyll & Hyde continues its Tour. If this isn't being sucessfull, I don't know what is...

I'd like to just be more specific.... Yes Jekyll & Hyde was a big success in S. Korea and I found that one of the big reasons of success is the CAST such as Cho seungwoo and Kim Sohyun and OD Musical Company produced the show as always and will be again next year and Monte Cristo is made by a very new beginning company that seems to be interested in musicals from Europe. and Tears of Heaven is by Seol Company which usually makes shows from Really Useful Group and They promote this musical almost Original Korean musical with the great composer Frank Wildhorn ^^ kekeke So still Jekyll & Hyde is only success. I'm just saying ^^
