After two very successful productions at La Jolla and Sarasota, Frank's "Bonnie & Clyde" will be opening on Broadway in December at the Schoenfeld Theater (the former Plymouth Theater where Jekyll & Hyde had its home).
There was an industry reading and it apparently the show pleased many people, including Michael Riedel who is knowned for hating everything.
Broadwayworld reports:http://broadwayworld.com/article/EXCLUSIVE-BONNIE-CLYDE-to-Hit-Broadways-Schoenfield-Theatre-in-December-20110622
Unlike Frank's other shows, Bonnie & Clyde is a very intimate show, doesn't have any flashy numbers or anything alike. The music suits is written suiting the Era and it DOES NOT contain any pop song. The story focus on the main characters and accompanies them from their youth and through their life. It deals more with their life and shattered dreams than with big robberies etc (though there are of course shooting scenes etc).
If they don't do another stupid complete re-write as they did with Wonderland, Bonnie & Clyde may be Frank's first audience hit on Broadway since Jekyll & Hyde and The Scarlet Pimpernel, and his first hit with the critics (granted they'll for once watch the show first and write the reviews AFTER)
Here's a clip from the last production

What's the word on Casting? Is Laura Osnes' Anything Goes contract up by then?

Yes, Laura Osnes will return to the role of Bonnie (she has played it since the 1st production) and Jeremy Jordan will return as Clyde. So far it's the only cast announced. However it is very likely that Michael Lanning returns as the priest (he played both productions) and Melissa van der Schyff as Blanche Barrow. The Cast has been pretty steady in both productions, the only main actor that was new in the 2nd production was Jeremy Jordan The show starts previews November 4th and premières December 1st. broadwayworld.com/article/Official-BONNIE-CLYDE-to-Start-Previews-on-Broadway-November-4-Open-December-1-20110623

Previews started yesterday. People that attended seem to be pleased with the show so far, even those who normally bash everything Wildhorn. Anyone's going to any preview?

Very curious to hear your thoughts on it! Specially after seeing on the Wildhorn-Hate Cathedral (broadwayworld's boards) 8 pages of praises for the show. ;D

short statement, I liked it. A lot. It's not perfect, but it in the end the ups outweighed the downs. review to follow on the review board.

Its really encouraging to finally see a Wildhorn show come together this nicely. My fingers are crossed for the critics to be as open minded as some of the people who have gone out to see the previews.
