"Nine" is arguably my favorite musicals but I've missed out on the revival. All I have is the 2-disc Original Broadway Cast with Raul Julia as Guido in which he is my favorite in that role because Antonio Banderas can't hold a candle to him, he just can't. Also I think the revival ruined everything: The sets, costumes(they're supposed to be black), and cut out 3 major songs(Movie Themes, Germans At The Spa and the Waltz From "Nine"). Just asking everyone if they've seen it or got all of the cast recordings from the show.

I saw the revival on Broadway three times, each with Antonio Banderas and he was amazing in the role. I loved the revival so much (although I'm unfamiliar with the original). The second time, especially, that I saw it was from the 5th row (we splurged on the seats because we had such crappy ones the first time...) and it was one of my most favourite theatre experiences to date. I thought the cast was outstanding and I loved the costumes and set. I know that it can be hard to accept another verison when you love the original (I've felt that way before too) but this one really is fantastic. Mary Stuart Masterson is amazing as Luisa and Laura Benanti sings a beautiful version of "Unusual Way". Give it a try if you can

Laura Benanti as Carla is wonderful but for Luisa, Mary Stuart Masterson can't lift a candle to Karen Akers(The Original Broadway Cast). Still Antonio Banderas is no Raul Julia!
