Oh dear god, it seems like some 'brilliant' Hollywood executive has decided to make a new film version of the musical MY FAIR LADY! And Cameron Macintosh is co-producing! No! No! No! The original film is nearly perfect - only minus being that Audrey Hepburn and Jeremy Brett were dubbed. And especially big NO! for Keira Knightley!! If they have to make a new version of this classic musical, then at least get an actress with some charisma to play the lead! I also read it on Musicalzentrale... Honestly if they wanted to remake some movie, why not PotO? There they could fix the crap they did in the movie... Or Evita. Or West Side Story (one that no longer looks as ugly as the original film)
I never liked Audrey Hepburn and I definitly prefer Keira Knightley over her...but...can she sing? It would be nice to have an actress in My Fair Lady that actually sung the role.
Oh, and...there's no one that can replace Rex...and Daniel Day-Lewis is VERY FAR from beeing a good Professor Higgins...

I love the original Audrey Hepburn film(she's my idol), I think this is ridiculous...
As for a remake of West Side Story, maybe not since the film was good as is(it used the original direction of the stage show and won tons of Academy Awards), but I wished they've included the Somewhere Ballet because its breathtaking to see that on stage but I understand it was cut for the better(time difficulties).
Ohh remake PotO please even though Gerry is hot to look at but he doesn't have the voice and it introduced lots of fans in order to get them introduced to the stage show(though I knew the stage show from the start).

Can I just point out that there is no way Mr Lloyd Webber is going to do a remake of Phantom. The film only came out 4 years ago. If anything they'll maybe record the stageshow (like cats and Joseph).
As for MFL. I think this is one of the very few musical film's that was done perfectly and we all know tampering with perfection can lead to terrible things.

Robert couldn't help but fall over and start laughing at that comment by Keira. Lol. It's so funny. She knows she can't sing and yet she is playing a role in a musical. Funniest thing ever. But then again... Peirce Brosnan knew he couldn't sing and still appeared in Mamma Mia.
And death:
I was ROFL at your *head desk* comment.

Mamma Mia was fine for a number of reasons.
1. Pierce wasn't the leading character and he sang all of two songs. Eliza has song upon song to sing.
2. Mamma Mia doesn't have a very vocally important score.
and btw I just had a thought. Now I've never seen MFL on stage, so I don't know how the role of Higgins is meant to be sung. But if I remember correctly Rex Harrison couldn't sing to save his life. He talked most of his songs.

He talked most of his songs. Rex Harrison "sung" the role pretty much the way it was eventually meant to be sung. Jonathan Pryce, who definitely can sing (original Engineer of MISS SAIGON, Peron in EVITA movie) played the role of Higgins in the 2001 London revival of MFL and even he didn't sing the songs properly, although it was closer to singing than Rex Harrison's. So it would be interesting to know why exactly are we getting a remake of a musical where the other lead doesn't have decent songs to sing and the other one can't sing to begin with?!?!?!?
