It's hard to imagine that the amazing cast and team they've assembled will be willing to hold out that long. Sierra, for example, seems a hot commodity these days. I wonder if she'll be content just twiddling her thumbs while hoping the producers can, literally, "get their act together."

Probably just down to the economic climate. People don't want to invest in a Broadway show which are always high risk investments. Investors want a guaranteed return, and I'm sure that even the creative team don't want a flop just because of theatre goers without funds.

Disappoiniting news, but the statement from Sprecher is very promising. I don't care how long we have to wait for Rebecca to open on Broadway. As long as we get a fantastic show, I'm happy. Call me cynical (and I'll be very happy if I'm wrong), but I don't think a single show that "postponed" actually ever came in the next year. Well...you have Spider-Man. That one was complete chaos but eventually opened and it's selling out (as amazing as it seems...). I prefer them to not open on Broadway at all and move again to London than to open on Broadway and run out of money and have to close the show even though audiences are loving it (which is what happened with Bonnie & Clyde)

But Spiderman also has the Bono/U2 angle. People like seeing what "the fuss is about" and Spiderman got A LOT of press. Rebecca, not so much (outside of the theatre world).
For Example: Mention a possible trip to NYC, my Mom asks if I will see Spiderman. She doesn't know the name of any other show on Broadway. But, she watches the news.
This is too bad though. I was looking forward to a full English Recording.

and spiderman did not have financial issues. it was actually selling tickets the whole time it was being condemned as awful.
my comment is in reference to shows that say they are coming in and then don't. not shows that actually opened. if anyone can name a show that was announced as coming in, then had their financing fall through but did ultimately open, i'll be glad to hear it.

Ah. Well...in that case all Rebecca needs to do is get some actors injured. The burning of Manderley is a good excuse. Lets see. I'm not concerned if the show doesn't open on Broadway. I still think it should open in London instead...and I hope the producers start to re-think their ideas of opening on Broadway first too.

Rebecca is back on track to open on Broadway in the fall of 2012!! According to a statement from Ben Sprecher on the musical's official Facebook page:
"Rebecca is moving forward. We have identified the final missing piece of investment and the Schuberts (to whom I shall be forever indebted) have graciously allowed us to resume production to open at the Broadhurst in fall of 2012."
I'm happy :-)

Which theatre were they trying to book? I honestly don't remember. I'm curious as to what booked in its place for the spring and whether it was a limited engagement or not. I'm guessing they are expecting it to be open again in the fall for them to move in. Or is it still not booked with anything right now...

Currently playing there is A Streetcar Named Desire, first preview April 3, Opening April 23. I can't find when it's booking to.

Ah, thank you.
Plenty of time then from Streetcar closing and for them to open. I assume they'll probably opt for a late fall opening in favor of a longer preview period perhaps.

And for those who skipped the article and may not know.... Boggess is out because she is doing Prince of Broadway instead. Mutu is no longer officially cast as Maxim. The other roles that had been announced remain.
