It is. Basicly Wednesday is asking for "one normal night". Then we see the Beineke's wandering through the forest looking for the Addams house. Fester sings the last part of the song and after he says "one normal night is what they'll geeeeeeeet" the stage is clear, you see a huge cardboard representation of the Mansion. Then the "mansion" falls and behind is the Addams Family in that "portrait position" we know from the series, and the tune plays, they snap the fingers etc, then the tune changes into a kinds Tango arrangement and they come walking towards the audience as the interior of the house starts to appear around them...
I'm waiting to see what changes will be made in the B'way version though...

I am glad to announce that "The Addams Family" tune is now OPENING the show as I said it should Also, the show got a major rewrite. The songs "Clandango", "Passionate and True", "Second Banana", "At seven" and the endless reprises of "Lets not talk about anything but love" where all cuted.

This song, performed on David Letterman, is the song that opens the show after the "Overture". It replaced the song "Clandango" which can be seen in the Chicago trailer
I prefered "Clandango" a lot more...

The critics weren't exactly impressed by the show. Reviews weren't that great... :-(

Indeed. Actually I only read ONE good review (from bloomberg). All the other critics, specially the New York Times were specially hard. I can't say they're wrong though...the music IS crap and they managed to cut the only couple of decent songs from the show. The book is still a bit messy but passes...

Btw, here's an interesting article from the NYT. www.nytimes.com/2010/04/14/theater/14addams.html?ref=theaterThe show costed 16.5 million dollars. It got already 15 million on advanced booking. Only last weekend, after the devastating reviews got 851,000 dollars on sales... I think it's as the article says, "“The Addams Family” seems to have cracked a formula that to various degrees made long-running hits of “Jekyll & Hyde,” “Beauty and the Beast,” ”Mamma Mia!” and “Smokey Joe’s Cafe” after being dismissed by many critics. Such shows have tended to attract audiences already fond of their songs or characters." And here's some official footage of the show

My guess is that THE ADDAMS FAMILY will make way for GHOST The Musical which will be opening in April 2012.

Honestly hope not. If they're closing The Addams Family to replace it by Ghost I would rather have them not shutting TAF down...Also, Sister Act may not last long and Catch Me if You Can is also closing so it's premature to say where will Ghost land.

Also, Sister Act may not last long and Catch Me if You Can is also closing so it's premature to say where will Ghost land. Well, since GHOST will open in a Nederlander theatre it won't be replacing SISTER ACT, since The Broadway is a Schubert house. But yeah, it is pretty early to say which show will take the Lunt-Fontanne next.
