Am I the only fan of La Chiusa's work on this forum?
Let me know I am not and tell us why you like (or dislike) the musicals of this man somme people call a genius ...

I haven't had the opportunity to see any of his shows. I love the recording of See What I Want to See though. I don't think he's gotten the credit he has deserved yet.

I loved Marie Christine. I thought his updating of the Medea tale was incredible. Saw his Wild Party on Broadway, and while I like the music and lyrics, it was not one of my favorites. Not really a fan of See What I Wanna See, I've actually never made it through the whole CD.

Marie Christine is a very clever adaptation but I think it is the easiest of his works to follow.
I got lately "First Lady Suite", an imaginary suite of songs from 3 First lady of the USA : Jackie Kennedy, Mamie Eisenhower and Eleanor Roosevelt. It's amazing : not only the personnalities but the time are reflected in the music, the songs and the voices !
"See what I wanna see" is a very complex synopsis and in spite of Idina Menzel's performance, I apreciate it but after several listnings...Sounds very japanese...
My favorites are "Hello again", funny and smart,
and most of all "Bernarda Alba" after Lorca's play. Very simple, no big orchestra, a very sharp music, and the deep voice of the mother, thrilling...
I admit LaChiusa's work is not very easy to go into...
