I heard that Patti LuPone is going to play Mrs. Lovett in a revival of Sweeney Todd. I adore her in thiss role, so when is this going to happen.
I also heard that there will be a revival of A Little Night Music with Glenn Close. When?

I haven't heard anything about the A Little Night Music revival.
As for Sweeney Todd, it previews October 3 and opens November 3. Michael Cerveris is playing Sweeney.

It's been a while since I heard anything mentioned about A Little Night Music. Last I heard, both Glenn Close and Trevor Nunn (to direct) had signed on, and they were working on getting Angela Lansbury and Richard Gere. I think it was targeted for early 2006.

As far as I can see, nothing else has been annoucned since what Stacy mentioned. It's not even on the Playbill.com's "upcoming" Broadway schedule. I would love for A Little Night Music to be revived because I';ve never listened to an ounce of its music and would love to experience something like that without much previous knowledge. Plus Sondhiem's work must be SPREAD and more appreciated.

I don't think Michael Cerveris is suited for the role of Sweeney because I think he is a more Anthony type and I think they should have picked George Hearn.

They've been reviving Sondheim shows left and right nowadays!

While not someone I would have thought of putting in the role, I get a feeling that Michael Cerveris will be good as Sweeney. At the very least, he'll be interesting to watch!
And, yes, we have seen a lot of Sondheim shows revived lately. If you note, most of the productions we've seen have only been limited engagements. Somewhere (I think broadway.com) I read about Roundabout's trend of doing just that. The point made, was that these are revivals that would not be all that successful with a full-scale production. I think Sondheim show's work better this way.
If Sweeney succeeds, you can bet we'll be seeing A Little Night Music revived.
And on another note, according to playbill, the Sweeney director is in the proccess of conceiving a production of Company in the same manner that Sweeny's being staged.
