I read in Playbill.com that "Whistle Down The Wind" would revive and replace WIW.

Whereas I am very happy that "Whistle down the wind" is making a return, I honestly am not sure how it will be more successful than The Woman in White, since it did not do as well as it probably deserved to be when it first appeared on West End, and it probably didn't even do as great as WIW did when it first opened. And I personally like "The Woman in White" better.

I don't see why Woman in White just didn't stay there (or even do a mini-revival of JCS or Joseph if they wanted a Webber show)

Whistle Down the Wind is one for the flop collectors - it failed to make it to Broadway and got mixed reviews on its tryout tour, and was retooled only to get another mixed reception in London. I'm interested in seeing it/hearing some of the music, but not really enough to pay for it.
BTW, Jim Steinman, who worked on Tanz der Vampire, had something to do with the show (I want to say it was lyrics or score...)

I love the overture of Whistle Down the Wind, but I can't get past it. The score is just so... not... really... interesting.
It's pretty from what I've listened to and I do enjoy Whistle Down the Wind, but it isn't as compelling as Woman in White and it doesn't have as good of a cast.

There is only 2 people I like from "Whistle", Marcus Lovett and Lottie Mayor.

Jim Steinman wrote the lyrics for WDTW. I saw the show when it first opened in London and I must say that it just didn't grab me :-( Some of the lyrics were very predictable too. There were a few characters that didn't need to be there (even though Dean Collinson is cute!) and some of the story didn't gel with me either :-(

Whistle is tedius but in the right hands could work. And Sissi's right it wasn't recieved well in DC when it premiered. Its main problem is the side plots. And its message is delivered in a grammatically incorrect sentence 8)
