I saw the show last week in previews, great tunes and a good night's entertainment. Had wanted to see Philip Quast on stage for years as it was, though my favourite song was probably 'Another Suitcase In Another Hall' sung by an actress who was Juliet in the OLC of Romeo & Juliet. She had a lovely voice. But overall, I was a bit disappointed as the show didn't wow me as had hoped. Maybe because of all the hype about it? *shrug* But fast and impressive costume changes and an interesting set - recommend seeing if you are around in London!

I'm really looking forward to seeing this in September! I haven't seen Evita on stage before, but now that my best friend has me rather hooked on the show I have to see it! (And catching Philip Quast wouldn't hurt, either ). MiladyDeWinter

Saw the show on Thursday and it failed to grab me as well Main reason to go was to see Philip and he was on good form as always I liked the staging but thats about it! I didn't think Elena was all that special. She was better in the 2nd than 1st act though when you could see more expression and feeling. Her voice is good but not exceptional and at times she was far too shrill. She's absolutely tiny so Philip really towers over her! Matt Rawle wasn't all that bad but he didn't have the necessary stage presence or personality to do Che justice and to be visible as the narrator. I liked the Mistress, Lorna Want, she had a lovely voice. Overall, disappointing.

I hope it moves to Broadway but once again we'll be having 2 ALW Shows again. Remember what happened to WIW, people picked POTO over it.

Good to know that I'm good for some things I saw this yesterday afternoon, and despite still not being enamoured with Elena's voice, I have toa gree that it's a star-making performance. I'm in the middle of writing a review if it'd be of any interest to anyone. I'd also be very interested to see Abbie as Eva (and even Jodie Jacobs... I could imagine she'd be awesome.)

Do those who have seen it think the CD would be worth buying?

^I was wondering that too. I don't, but that is due to my personal preference - I liked the film version vocally alot more, even if Madonna nicked 'Another Suitcase In Another Hall' from Andrea Corr! lol. Also, I already own the OLC and film soundtrack on cd and am not a fan enough to buy a third version, and I wasn't that impressed with the 2006 cast as a whole.

Get the OBC, has a vocally strong Che'(Antonio cannot beat Mandy Patinkin because Antonio wasn't angry or sarcastic as Mandy), a great Eva(Patti LuPone wins hands down though Elaine and Madonna are close), and better Orchestrations. Plus its the whole show.

Give me the Dutch Cast Recording with Pia, the World Tour with Florence Lacey or the European Tour with Caren Lyn Manuel any day! I think all three are awesome recordings.
I'm really excited about hearing the cast recording of the London Revival Cast (and hopefully they manage to get Elena up to the G in 'A New Argentina'.)

Personally I wouldn't get the CD, it won't have much Philip on it But then again the show didn't grab me. Would be interested in hearing Pia as Evita though, I bet she was fab!
