Since TPOTO was written for Sarah and this is a sequel to that show - the events taking place only 10 years after the TPOTO - with the same leading characters, I think it's necessary to have same vocal ranges for the leading characters! So, I don't think he's writing for Sarah in particular, he's writing for a soprano - which the role of Christine is. It will be interesting to see if Sarah will eventually end up recording any of the songs from this show on her albums! And if so, how well will she pull them off. (I have no doubt she'll do a fantastic job with them if she ever decides to give them a try. Yes, I'm a fan. ) Glad to see "The Heart is slow..." did end up in this show! If only ALW hadn't used it in THE BEAUTIFUL GAME... and if only it ("Our kind of love") hadn't been released as a single by Hannah Waddingham... Thing is, those high notes are more in the style of Carlotta rather than Christine. And Sierra, as much as I love her, isn't an opera singer. And while Sarah is trained for that kind of singing Sierra isn't. So...I dunno but Christine doesn't need to have such high notes. Actually if you think well she only has in PotO 2 big high notes: in Think of Me a song that was suposed to be sung by Carlotta and in the main title and there she goes high because the Phantom is pushing her to. In none of her other songs does she go so high...so I really don't see the need for those awfull high notes in Love Never Dies... Sarah will probably record some of the songs. It's bound to happen ;D Yeah I knew you would be pleased with the song in the show I personaly never liked The heart is slow to learn nor Our Kind of Love. And I still don't like it this time. For 2 reasons: 1st the lyrics for all 3 versions are awfull and 2nd 'cause the tune doesn't really do anything for me...I dunno...I liked 'till I hear you sing once more though...(even though, again, the lyrics are pretty...forced)

Plus she has these more quiet high notes here and there, like " I must go, they wonder where I am", "But his voice filled my spirit with a strange sweet sound, In that night there was music in my mind. And through music my soul began to soar..." As for the lyrics of the new title song, I didn't like them either too much. But maybe they will 'open' better when heard in the actual context of the show. I preferred the lyrics of "The heart is slow..." to this, they were better but maybe they wouldn't work since they may have changed the place of the song so new lyrics were necessary. (Don't even get me started on the lyrics of "Our kind..." - I didn't like the song, hated the lyrics!)

and what do you think about the lyrics for Till I hear you sing ??
Time runs dry.....Still I ache down to the core... I am not sure After all I am not a native English speaker..so but seems like it's a bit corny or is it poetic to native speakers ??

The lyrics for that one are...meh...half decent. Though..."the moment creep, yet I can't bare to sleep" is deeply disturbing lol

I'm not native English speaker, but to me those lyrics weren't that bad. " Years come and years go, time runs dry. Still I ache down to the core." Makes sense to me. I've heard worse. But I didn't find these lyrics as excellent as for example Phantom's solo "The music of the night".

www.musicalzentrale.de/ reports that the show will be stoped from 22nd to 25th November. It will be re-worked (and I hope heavly re-written) and the changes implemented in London. The re-worked version will be the one staged in 2011 in Australia, while the transfer to Broadway was canceled.

They have been using many variations. The last RUG newsletter had the actual poster with the Phantom and Christine, in a clear copy of the PotO film poster...
