I read on a Dutch site that Kelly Osborne is playing Mamma Morton in Chicago for 7 weeks in the Camebridge theatre. Starting from 10 September.
Please tell me this is not true!!!! She is to small and to young to play Mamma Morton. Dont forget the horrible voice

wanna see her über air-brushed pictures? I think you do! before and "after" not going to lie - she looks pretty amazing, regardless of her air-brushing addiction! hahaFor the full story on the airbrushed picture, click here - it's quite amusing. Here is the playbill.com news link. Just explaining the new Mama Morton in West End (Osborne) and Broadway (Ardiane Lenox) Kelly Osbourne steps into the role on Sept. 10. Osbourne will get to prove her theatrical mettle to London audiences through Oct. 27.

wanna see her über air-brushed pictures? Sorry for going completely off-topic, but you can use the word "über" in English? The language surprises me again and again ^^ I was quite astonished when I read the word "doppelgänger" in a certain English book recently. If I may ask this in this thread: Do you use "angst" in the same way as "fear"?

If I may ask this in this thread: Do you use "angst" in the same way as "fear"? haha - only some people use über... normally we'd say "super" haha doppelgänger = Harry Potter! ;D that word is... quite english. I see it on a regular basis and I don't think we use angst the same way as fear - not at all.. fear is... fear and angst.. the only thing that comes to my mind is "Teen-angst" which is like.. teen-anger/drama/bullcrap haha

I've said it once and I'll say it again. They need to take Chicago off the stage. It's time, really. I mean the only reason it's there is becuase they keep getting stars, whether they're good or not, to play the leads. That tells you when a show is dying. And don't get me wrong, I love the show.. it's just had it's time.

epo: Whether a star is "good" or not, Chicago consistently sells well above its weekly break-even in NYC and London, regardless of how much any of us forget that it's still running until the next major stunt casting. Profitable show = stays open.

I've always thought that Mama was about middle-aged, but Kelly does look good in a way... Can she act? Or sing? I know she has recorded something but I've never heard her voice, so did she get to do a CD because of who she is or has she actually talents? Andreas, the word 'über' is quite generally used even in Finnish. Might be that we have copied the habit from English, though...

I know that it sells... and it sells even more with a stars name attached to it... but what I'm saying is the show is dying. The only reason it's profitable is because the general public will see it for the star. They had the movie so everyone knows the story, then they hear about their favourite star in the show and they 'have to go see it'. It's genious marketing but it kills the show.

It's genious marketing but it kills the show. That's what I'm thinking too, but if Kelly can't sing or act, she might just kill the show faster. Isn't that what happened to Jekyll & Hyde when they hired David Hasslehoff? I can't remember!

Isn't that what happened to Jekyll & Hyde when they hired David Hasslehoff? I can't remember! I think the show was dying before him and they cast him in order to sell tickets. I believe Sebastian Bach was playing the part before him, so that tells you something right there.

Frankly, if they're going to stunt cast a female role, I'd rather it be Mama Morton - she's only prominent for a couple of numbers. Talented professionals get to keep their jobs and audience for the price of an unproven name in a supporting role. If Kelly's horrible, she doesn't ruin the entire show. This isn't such a bad deal for all involved.

I don't think it has to close, the touring production had no big names and yet the theatres were still packed every night...I loved it, and would see it again...to be honest, I'd probably avoid it if there were any "big stars" in it...some people just aren't cut out to be in shows...can't judge on Kelly until I hear something of her singing voice though.
