I find that fact that a lot of you have Eva Peron s a top female favourite. Eva Peron was a tyrant! all she did was.. toss monye at people. Do you understand the real Eva Peron.. or do you love the Musical version?

Please tell me the adolf hitler as favorite male person is a joke. I hate him. He did so much damage to my country, killed thousands of people. No only jewisch people but also gipsy's, gay's, resistance people. Hitler as a favorite person. NEVER!! I agree with meja There are too many historical figures that I admire, most from Greek history

It took a while to decide... I think one of the persons I admire is Octavian Augustus, the first Roman Emperor. Though now that I have studied a bit, I know he wasn't flawless either...

Eva Peron is fascinating! I mean come on, she came from a poor family and rose high in power as the first lady(later Vice President), to her "Descomisados"(the shirtless ones). I mean thats no easy task and proves that women can be leaders. Well if you want to know what happened to her body later on, I recommend picking up "Santa Evita".

Yes I love the Romanov's. Along with the Hapsburgs of Austria, the Russian Romanov's are fascinating as well. Especially that one time this lady claims that she was Anastasia and later on when she died, the doctors made a DNA test. The Results: she wasn't her.

Seeing as how I'm Anastasia...

My greatest favourite historical people are Empress Elisabeth of Austria and Crown Prince Rudolf of Austria. (Yes, the musical Elisabeth has got me quite obsessed and I read all I can find about them.) Other people I'm really interested in include various people from the French Revolution (especially ladies, like Madame Roland and Charlotte Corday, but also e.g. Camille Desmoulins), the French female writer Colette, and really a bunch of people I need to learn more about.
By the way, when I say someone is a favourite person, I don't mean that they're someone I like in all respects, just someone I find fascinating. Though I love Elisabeth and Rudolf and also relate to them a lot, half the time I read about them I want to grab them, shake them and knock some sense into their heads (especially Elisabeth, Rudolf I feel is just having the circumstances way too much against him). I'm not really looking for someone perfect and admirable when it comes to historical people (because people never are perfect and I don't believe in setting historical figures up on a pedestal), just someone interesting. So I can understand someone having Hitler on the list - he is certainly very fascinating. Being interested in him doesn't mean agreeing with him or thinking he did anything good.
