I know some American Musicals went to Japan but there must be at least a favourite. Mine is:
1. Elisabeth(Toho with Yuchiro Yamaguchi and the Takarazuka ones)
2.Les Miserables with Takeshi Kaga and Kaho Shimada plus the Orange Cast with ANZA and Yuichiro Yamaguchi
3. SeraMyu- Sailormoon musicals
4. Evita
5. Phantom(Yuichiro Yamaguchi as POTO and Raoul plus the 10th Anniversary one)
6. The Rose Of Versailles(Takarazuka Revue)
7.C ocktail(Takarazuka Revue)
8.Black Jack(Takarazuka Revue)
9.Tanz der Vampire
10.Jekyll & Hyde
11.A Chorus Line
12. Phantom(Yeston & Koppitt's but I love Takarazuka's)

Yes, I might see it when Tanz Der Vampire comes out in a few months...
Les Miserables in Japan is really good too... they worked very hard to translate it into Japanese. That is no easy task!

Sailor Moon the musical? Any cast recording? Sounds like it would be amusing.
There are three separate recordings of Phantom in Japanese. Aspects of Love is in Japnese (as well as Evtia for that matter).
I think they are translating Wicked into Japanese as well.

Yes Hikagekun, there is a Sailor Moon musical in Japan in 1994 and its still going strong with different casts and stories. go to sailormusic.net/tracks/index-musicals.html , you will enjoy it. I wonder if anyone likes Elisabeth in Japanese? Like I've said above, Takarazuka and Toho is my Favorites. I left out that "Evita" and "Phantom" are my favs in Japanese.

I actually do like the Japanese productions of Les Miz, POTO, Beauty and the Beast, and Aida. Though they're in no way some of my favorite productions/casts of those musicals, I certainly don't have any big problems with them. However, ANYTHING that the Takarazuka has done so far have done nothing but frighten me. Maybe this is too harsh, but they completely ruined Elisabeth for me. Sorry, I absolutely CANNOT stand it. And I don't think I even want to think about going near their Tanz der Vampire if it's really them doing it. God, the horror...

I downloaded the tracks to the Sailor Moon musical (I don't think I could take it seriously if I saw it on stage...)
Takarazuka is when it is just women right? I think it would be odd to hear parts meant for men sung up in the upper octives, still it sounds interesting nonetheless.

The Takarazuka is an all-female theatre company in Tokyo. I know that they are dedicated, hard-working actresses, but the male characters played by them just frighten me.

I think Phantom would be freaky if done by the Takarazuka. I've seen Japanese women get insane in Dramatic parts (Japanese Soap Operas + Summer Vacation = Good Comedy) and I think The Phantom would be the apex of the insanity.

For clips of SeraMyu(Sailor Moon Musicals that are popular in Japan and still touring), check this site out: seramyuantics.takaginaosama.com/multimedia/The word FanKan means something the cast does after the show to joke and interact with audiences. Sometimes an Alumini of the show sings with a current cast.

I'm curious about this Seramyu musical, but I used to watch the anime on TV when I was small and used to love it... I'm not sure about a musical of Sailor Moon!

There are amateur subtitled copies of the Sailor Moon musicals floating around if you look for them. The shows themselves vary in quality from show to show, but they're usually fun and have some nice costumes and lighting effects.
