This is a tough question. On one hand I love the vocals from the men in Toho which the Takarazuka can't do. Although... The Takarazuka is on a much larger scale with more lush sets and better choreography. However I'm have to say I think I'm more a Takarazuka guy, cause they can't do anything wrong. (that goes for all the troops)

Despite of me being a big Yuichiro Yamaguchi fan, I have to say that I rather love Takarazuka's more than Toho in terms of costumes, story changes(come on do we REALLY need to see Hass, its not that important, IMHO), the added dialogue, the choreography and the many talented actresses playing Death(although I don't like the Star Troop that much). Plus this is the production that introduced "Elisabeth" to Japan so I give the Takarazuka credit for that ;D.

Well don't worry, the Takarazuka is reviving theirs real soon(I made a topic about it). Also, welcome back since me and the other forum members hasn't seen you in a while .

I also voted for the TOHO, mostly because I'm not comfortable with all of the script edits Takarazuka make. I do like their stagings and orchestrations, though.

Also, another reason why I chose Toho was because it's closer to the Vienna production and is more Sissi-centered.

I went for the Toho production. Takarazuka productions are too sanitized for my taste. The political/social punch is gone, and Elisabeth is neutered. I don't think I'm really a fan of either of any of the Japanese productions, to be truthful, but the Toho is the better of the two for me.

Just in case someone wants to compare Takarazuka and Toho:
Takarazuka Differences:
Its Der Tod Centered
Prologue is different
Dialogue has been added to the score
A new song "Ai to Shi no Rondo" has been added(Great improvement IMHO since it explains why is Sisi calling her "Black Prince" and why is Tod angry at her in "Saigo no Dansu")
The politics is gone(Big surprise)
The Waltz before "Letzte Tanz" is shortened
Death is everywhere
Elisabeth plans suicide after Franz didn't defend her against Sophie(happens before "Ich Gehor nur Mir")
Kitsch has different lyrics.
Wenn Ich Tanzen Will has a different feel plus its shortened so it eradicates the Black Bird Flee part of the Lyrics
A new sequence involving Rudolf joining Elmer's Anarchist movement to overthrow Franz is added(its a dance sequence)
The Mayerling Waltz is extended.
A Revue has been added(big surprise)
Hass is deleted due to content
Der Tod has all of Lucheni's verses in Milch then Lucheni joins him up in a duet
The Wie Du Reprise with Sisi and her father's ghost is cut.
The Act one Finale is different.
Rudolf as a Child is not a child at all! Its a Grown up woman!
Toho Differences:
Its Sisi Centered
"Yume to Utsutsu no Hasama Ni" is added as a solo for Sisi
Hass is here
A new sequence involving Rudolf joining Elmer's Anarchist movement to overthrow Franz is added(its a dance sequence)
Wenn Ich Tanzen Will has different lyrics compared to the Takarazuka. The "Black Bird Flee" is here.
"Ai to Shi no Rondo" is here although its not Tod Centered
Contains all of the score(nothing is cut, the Waltz is here, the added dialogue is intact)
Rudolf as a child stays a child as it should be.
If I am missing anything please feel free to add more ;D!

Since this deals with the Toho, I have a question about my 2004 Toho Orange Cast Highlights, is Rudolf played by Paku Tonha or Yoshio Inoue?

I don't know who played Rudolf though...I think Park Dong-Ha is the correct spell cuz he's Korean ^^; Oh yes, I got into a heated debate about him in Youtube. Nobody believed me there was a Korean Rudolf, they thought the 2004 Orange Cast is Yoshio Inoue. Maybe Marielle knows more than I about the highlights recording. All I know is Kenji Urai is on the Lilac with the rock-tenor Death, Masaaki Uchino.
