I would say that it depends on the country. If the musical is performed in Sweden or Norway, it's a bit more likely to get a cast recording. Finnish theaters don't normally make CDs of foreign musicals, and I'm not sure how these things work in Denmark or Iceland. But in general I think it's rather unlikely that there would be a Scandinavian cast recording of Rebecca.

If that video is the so-called official announcement of Rebecca on Broadway, there really is a lot of fuss about almost nothing. Kathrin Zechner says on the video that in the audience there are colleagues from New York who are considering if Rebecca could have potential to succeed on Broadway. That's it. There may be some negotiations going on with them, but if Rebecca will actually be performed on Broadway is another story. Exactly!

And the only place I've heard even a rumor of it coming to Broadway is here, so I'm thinking that it's nowhere near being even vaguely official.

Well lets see what happens. I still think for Kathrin Zechner to mention it on stage in front of hundreds of people in the audience there must be something going on the "backstage". Time will say who's right

I think there has been a mention here or there on a broadway board, but there was never any talk about the show coming over. Just a bunch of people whining. It will be quite some time if we see it at all. That being said if anything does come of it I think they need to stay away from Francesca as a director because of how her directing was received with the Little Mermaid.

But the thing is I've heard plenty of people talking about it... but there has been no excitement surrounding it. And this is like big news. So have I got excited for nothing or will they atleast attempt and english production somewhere?

Are you talking about what you've heard on message boards? Because I haven't seen anything beyond that.

Are you talking about what you've heard on message boards? Because I haven't seen anything beyond that. Between different message boards and comments on Rebecca videos on Youtube. That's why I asked was there an official article/statement.

So have I got excited for nothing or will they atleast attempt and english production somewhere? I'd say that people have mentioned the words 'Broadway' and 'Rebecca' together somewhere after hearing Zechner mentioning them, and other people have thought it means something more and have spread the rumour. It may be possible that Rebecca comes to Broadway or West End someday, but I wouldn't get too excited about it yet, they are just thinking about it.

Am I the only one who screams "NOOOOOOOOOOOO" at this thought of bringing it to Broadway?

Thanks Death, I think I've seen some of the same comments you have.
Bradford- Yes and no. Honestly, I think Broadway is currently biased towards European musicals and that style of music. So part of me wants it not to come over so that they don't completely criticize it. The other part of me feels that if this show is translated right that it will pick up a strong enough following because this would be a story that is loved by those who know it and can be loved by those who discover it.

don't deflate yet. if enough people talk about it in enough places, maybe it'll happen...

Am I the only one who screams "NOOOOOOOOOOOO" at this thought of bringing it to Broadway? Broadway I was shocked about when I first heard. I was more hoping for west-end. I think it would work better there. Well we've talked about Eliabeth for god knows how many years and still no progress. But I guess we can live in hope...
