Hey guys I thought you could help me with this. This semester my classes are focused on the pre-1960's musical era and we need to come up with a list of standards that we could potentially sing. Generally, we're allowed to transpose the key because of the era but just in case, I'm a soprano mix (legit and belt).
(A standard, in case you're unsure, is something from the era that was popular enough to be played on the radio; it may have started in a show but eventually everyone was singing it. For example: The Man That Got Away, They Can`t Take That Away From Me, Someone to Watch Over Me, I Got Rhythm, Just Imagine etc.)
Any suggestions would be awesome. I need an inital list for Tuesday but can add more afterwards.

One of my favourite pre-60's songs is "A Little Bit In Love" from Wonderful Town. The whole score is great, and surprisingly complex (the opening number has 17 key changes in 5:30) Shows to look at are WSS, Gypsy, most of the R&H catalogue, and stuff from Irving Berlin, Leonard Bernstein, and anything that falls under the best of Tin Pan Alley.
EDIT: How could I forget "My White Knight" and "Goodnight My Someone" from The Music Man?

Hey guys, Thanks so much for all of that. I`ve definatly been reminded of some I forgot but if anyone knows anything more obscure that`d be great... some of the early Berlin, Porter, or Kern. The problem is it has to be something one of the other girls aren`t doing or have already done. There are 14 girls in my class 10 of which are sopranos so you can see the competitions for good songs are not fun ones.
