I hope that there's not already a thread anywhere with the news, but I've just read that Rebecca will have its Russian premiere on 28th March 2009 in Moscow. There's an official site with the cast list and so on: www. rebeccamusical. ru Also, if you click on "МУЛЬТИМЕДИА" (the 8th link on the left site), there's a clip with songs from a workshop with the actual cast, I think. Sounds pretty good, IMO. And as I can read Cyrillic (but hardly understand a word Russian) it's fun to read through the cast list and try to make out the name of the roles

Hmm this is strange since VBW didn't announced anything. There's also the chance of this being an ilegal production, just like the Russian Jekyll & Hyde. I hope not...and I hope at least they'll release a CD... I'll check with Michael Kunze anyway.

I don't think that it's illegal since they mention Kunze's website and the VBW. But, after re-"reading" the information on the site (you cannot really call it reading.. it's just me trying to understand some words that sound the same in Russian, German and English ) it might be possible that it's just a concert.. at least they mentioned the word concert ^^ So, if anyone out there understands Russian, I'd really appreciate your help

VBW is usually the last one to tell about anything, and it looked to me like one photo in the video clip was taken on the stage of Raimund Theater, so I guess they have at least met someone at VBW. I tried an online translation program and the production indeed seems to be a concert with a symphony orchestra.

A Symphonic Orchestra playing Rebecca would be amazing, though the woman(?) playing Danvers looks more like a 12 year old boy... I'm still suspicious about this. The photo proves little, since it could have been taken in a Tag der offenen Tueren in Raimund Theater so... Anyway, I've emailed Michael Kunze regarding this as as soon as I get an answer I'll confirm it (or deny it) here.

I just got the answer from Michael Kunze about this: The Russian production of REBECCA is a university reading, not a public event. So its not a Concert even less a show. Pitty. But maybe it will interest some producer to do it in the future
