According to www.musicalzentrale.de/, Caspar Richter, musical director of the VBW will (I assume retire) be replaced by Koen Schoots, Frank Wildhorn's European Musical Director, as Musical Director of the VBW. I think this will be great 'cause Koen does wonders with orchestrations. On the other hand, I'm sad Caspar is going away but hey, he was on the job for quite a long...

Aww, I'll miss Caspar Richter. But then, I guess even he has to retire at some point, and if there's someone I trust as his successor it's Koen Schoots.

Just checked Richter's website, he won't retire, he just wanted some change and will continue working somewhere else.
Btw, if we talk about Richter, he's also the musical director of My Fair Lady at the Seefestspiele Mörbisch (a huge open-air stage at a lake in Austria), which normally only stage operettas, but this year, they try a musical. Premiere was yesterday, have already read a quite positive review, usually they release a DVD of all their productions but they won't this year because of difficult rights of the American musical.

Ah then he'll leave only the VBW. Still a pitty. Oh but just to add: He'll only be gone in 2010. He'll stay until September 10th to conduct the Tanz Revival.

Nice that he's not going away completely! But it makes sense he maybe wants some variety sometimes, he's been there for so long... Thanks for the information, Andreas!

Hehe, not really a news about Richter or Schoots, but I saw both of them within a week ^^ Caspar Richter conducting My Fair Lady and Koen Schoots conducting the opera Rigoletto. Both did an excellent work
