So for the first time in a long time, ALL weekend shows on Broadway and off have been cancelled. Sigh, and I had tickets for Follies on Sunday.

Since September 11. Not THAT long ago I wouldn't want to be near anyone that had tickets to The Book of Mormon though...

I'd rather know you were staying dry Scarlet.
I wonder if any of the smaller off off Broadway venues chose to stay open. I know some of wouldn't cancel if the theatre was blown down.

I'd rather know you were staying dry Scarlet. Agreed. Hopefully the theaters will be offering refunds at least?

Sorry for the delay in posting, i stayed at a friend's place for the weekend.
all in all Irene was pretty boring in NYC. Heavy rain, winds, but nothing incredible.

Yeah, it really depend on where you lived. Nothing huge but I know a few who lost power for awhile and a family member in PA had their chicken coop blown down. But how often does a hurricane hit New York? Of course it was going to be a big deal?

all in all Irene was pretty boring in NYC. Heavy rain, winds, but nothing incredible. I was in NYC on holiday when Irene hit. I arrived Fri afternoon and Irene "arrived" Sat-Sun night. I went for a walk Sun around noon and walked from Times Square all the way down to the Battery Park. Total: two fallen trees (both in the Village) and one bigger puddle in BP! That's it. So I agree, nothing incredible. As for the shows, I had a ticket for SPIDER-MAN for Sat evening and the show was cancelled due to the hurricane. They offered to change the ticket for another performance (depending on availability, of course) or a full refund. I managed to get the ticket changed to another performance. Off-Broadway venues were closed as well, since the public trasport (subway, busses, trains etc.) were shut down for the weekend at Sat noon and people on Manhattan stayed indoors for the evening. My guss is that they had the same policy concerning the Sat & Sun tickets as the Broadway shows had.
