I loved it. Especially the song Wonderful. But I think glorious goes too far. It makes me feel weird saying it about a show.

I love it, but not crazy about it. I count it as one of my favorite musicals, but i certainly am not obsessed w/ it. For a while i thought i'd grown tired of it because of all the endless talking and worshipping of it, all the Elphie-boppers treating Idina Menzel as the biggest goddess that's ever come out of broadway, and talking as if Wicked is the best musical in the history of mankind. but no, i could never bring myself to dislike it. and now i'm getting back into it more and more. after all, i'm a fan of the book and Stephen Schwarz.

Now see that's one thing I didn't like about the show, it was so much different from the book. The book was great and the musical was almost completely different.

Yep, I love it. I only have the recording, which my cousin brought for me from the US and I didn't know anything about it until that. I fell in love with the music immediately, and again Stacy and her musical village gave me a big help with its synopsis and lyrics. I love the plot, mainly because The Wizard of Oz always irritates me with its cheerfulness, and all those people dancing around happily just make me sick. I'm always interested in the bad people of the stories, and the Wicked witch of the west was my favourite character from the very beginning (though being quite stereotypical), before I had even heard of Wicked. I can't name a favourite song, I love almost all of them, but perhaps What is this feeling, No one mourns the wicked, I'm not that girl and Defying gravity are the best ones.

WICKED and POTO are my favorite shows. I'm an obsessed fan for both, but not one of those crazy fans that treated Idina like she really was a goddes even though she was amazing. I saw the original cast in February 2004 and I'm seeing the newer cast (in NY) this July with my best friend. I'm really excited about it! My favorite song in the show is One Short Day! I know...but I just lvoe the tune! But my favorite song because of its context is Defying Gravity.

I was so obsessed with it for a time, but it got old fast. I mean, it was good, but it wasn't really the OHMIGOODNESSTHEBESTSHOWEVER-type thing everyone hypes it up to be. The other people in this thread will probably want to kill me now, but in my opinion, it's pretty overrated.

Myself, I was never obsessed with it. In fact, I would probably never have seen it if my best friend hadn't wanted to go. So, it must follow that I think Wicked is probably over-rated. I like a lot of the music, but I hated sitting through its bad excuse for a book. However, it's over-rated by a lot of people for whom it's their first musical, or close to it. Many of them will drop Wicked when they get onto a new fad, but a lot of people will be introduced to theatre through it - much like Phantom or Rent have done - and that's good for everyone. I think the only lasting harm to come is to the voices of pre-teens who try to belt the F in "Defying Gravity" ;-). (Which, by the way, was an amazing scene to watch in the theater with Idina Menzel, even from the cheap seats. Wow!)

It kinda took me a while to get into the music when I first got the recording. And after all of the hype I was a little disappointed. I expected a little bit more, but I love it now. And there are obviously songs that stand out in the score.

I definitely love Wicked. It's just so funny yet touching and has amazing songs. And usually the obsessive fans surrounding things like this and the hype turn me off a bit, but I still love Wicked despite the hype. I think it's just such a great musical.

Well, I listened to the recording and to be honest, I didn't like it. A few of the songs for catchy, but it really didn't move me. Definatly one of my least favorite Schwartz scores.
I may still see it when it comes to town next summer. It all depends on whether I have the money and can still get tickets at that time. Hopefully it'll be better overall.
