Hi everybody, I´m not sure if anybody of you already heared the news about the phantom in Essen. Since yesterday we officially know who will play the Phantom! It´ll be 4!!! First of all Thomas Borchert, then Ethan Freeman, then Uwe Kröger and last but not least Ian Jon Bourg! I´m very excited about it! I´ve seen Ian in Stuttgart and it was a good show (ok, I was more concentrated on Michael Sean Lewis playing Raoul that time ). Mostly I´m looking forward hearing Ethan in this role because I think he has the best voice for it!!! I like Thomas and Uwe a lot but I can´t imagine they`ll be great phantoms.... Especially since I´ve seen the german movie version of Phantom...But of course I´ll have to see the three and decide afterwards. ;D

I think many of us have known this for a long, long time, especially those of us who visit phantomfans.net. ;D To be honest, I love all four of these guys to death, and if i can, I'd seriously get tickets to see all four of them, every single one!

Argh, I must go to Essen somehow! I'll swim over the sea and walk to Germany if I have to, but I want to see them all... Especially Ethan Freeman, I've heard he's a fabulous Phantom.

according to thatsmusical.de, the order of phantoms is Thomas Borchert, Ian Jon Bourg, Ethan and then Uwe??? Not keen on Phantom as a show, but <SOB> Thomas is my favourite Krolock and of course he's now leaving Tanz:-( I hope I get to see him this Sunday as it'll be my last chance to see him in the role. just keeping an eye out at the mo for anything more than rumours as to who will replace him as Krolock in Hamburg.

I'd have thought Uwe was a great Phantom... I find that Der Tod und das Phantom have some traits in common, making it easier for an actor to "skip" from one role to the other...

There is nothing "tortured" about der Tod, and there's nothing "scary" about him. He is far from a tormented soul, and far from a violent, obsessive, nearly-insane murderer.

Well, no... From this point of view you're actually right... I was thinking about them both seducing young, unexperienced women and trying to convince them to join them in a world of darkness. If this makes any sense at all!!

wait wait wait.... is it.. all 4 phantom's.. i each show.. like.. they switch roles during the show?!... i don't understand... Each of the 4 actors will be doing the show for a period of time. Thomas Borchert will start when the show opens, and a few months later, either Ethan Freeman or Ian Jon Bourg will take over, and when the 2nd one is done, the 3rd one will come on, and Uwe will be the last of the 4 take the role. How long they're each staying w/ the show I'm not sure yet.

I can't wait to see Ethan as the Phantom again! He is my very favourite in that role, and I've seen and heard quite a few. I would be interested in seeing Uwe and Thomas as well, but I don't think I can make more than one trip! Full details are on my Ethan site, of course: www.ethanfreeman.de
