I'm interested in the DVD because of the men, but I dearly wish they could have taken the ladies from the second cast instead. ;D Just like me! I wish to see especially Szilveszter on the DVD. I can´t really talk about Kata as I´ve never seen her as Elisabeth on stage, but I think Nikki was adorable. Another cast change that turned up on the October list: Mészáros Árpád Zsolt (known as Benvolio in Rómeó és Júlia and a bunch of other roles) is listed as Lucheni, besides Földes Tamás and Száraz Tamás. Why this??? I liked him as Benvolio but I don´t like him singing at galas or so. And I simply can´t imagine his voice fitting to the character Lucheni. By the way: why do they always write cast changes onto the homepage after I had a look at it?

I don't know. Maybe one of the other Luchenis is planning to drop out and they need to train a replacement. I don't like the idea of his voice for that character, but acting-wise he could pull it off. He doesn't look anything remotely Italian, though. And I don't know, I could have imagined someone else better suited for the role. Dolhai Attila apparently understudied it way back when - but of course, he's still playing Rudolf.
Niki is a perfectly fantastic Elisabeth... She really is my favourite Elisabeth in the entire world. Kata was quite a disappointment to me - I liked her okay before I saw her live, though didn't think her equal to Niki, but when I saw her live she really wasn't good. I hope she'll have tried extra hard for the DVD, though.

Yeah, yeah, she is. The DVD was already filmed in Szeged as I understand, and she and Niki were playing the leads alternately. I have been hoping she'd give up the role after this, but I just looked at the October cast list for Elisabeth, and while the daily cast lists aren't up yet (it still lists every actor for each role), the list has been updated to remove Máté and replace him with Zsolt. So, Zsolt is indeed replacing Máté; and Kata is still there along with Nikolett and Bernadett. I'm rather annoyed at her still being there, because I so hoped that the rumours of her giving it up would be true and from now on I could be sure to catch a good Elisabeth any time. But no. Le sigh. I sence a little Kröger-syndrom here... I'm interested in the DVD because of the men, but I dearly wish they could have taken the ladies from the second cast instead. Another cast change that turned up on the October list: Mészáros Árpád Zsolt (known as Benvolio in Rómeó és Júlia and a bunch of other roles) is listed as Lucheni, besides Földes Tamás and Száraz Tamás. I'm so surprised that I don't even know what to say of this. My ears are already dreading the idea of him singing "Milch" and "Kitsch" but acting-wise this might be one of the roles where I would like him. I don't know. I'm really surprised, I would never have thought of this. Well with such a Cast I won't buy the DVD for sure, specially 'cause I don't like none of the leads (Sisi or Tod). As for Mészáros Árpád Zsolt...I can't really see him as Lucheni either. Even less if he sings it like he sung in Rudolf...my ears still hurt from that one...I had never enjoyed Attila so much in a role as I did when I saw him in Rudolf after Árpád Zsolt

Yeah, when I try to imagine Árpi as Lucheni, my mind's drawing a blank. And voice-wise, I really am not looking forward to hearing "Milch" sung with that voice. There are times, I've noticed when seeing him live, that he suddenly sings with this smooth deep baritone voice that sounds really good, about 1000 times better than his usual bleating - but I've never heard him keep that up for more than a few notes. It's probably something he does by accident. Based on which roles I like him best in, though, I could sort of see him in this one - in Altar Boyz I noticed he has plenty of skill for playing humorous, energetic, slightly wicked parts with a lot of audience interaction, and Lucheni is definitely that. But still, he's nothing like my first choice for the role... It's rather odd.

Sorry for spamming with links, but here are tons of really gorgeous pictures from the Szeged Elisabeth with the second cast. In a few of them, Zsolt actually looks fine (or I'm just getting used to the look). In some, he looks like a failed experiment at Frank'n'Furter. The lipstick they gave him is the wrong colour, or at least looks weird in some lights. Maybe it'll be better with the stronger blue lighting, though? Niki looks so beautiful I would scarcely believe she's real if I didn't know it. Also, I love the way they randomly felt a need to make the Mayerling pic artistically black and white. (Also, I appreciate the way Zsolt seems to be giving everyone proper kisses. He certainly kisses Elisabeth very intensely, it also looks like he gives Rudolf a more real kiss than Szilveszter does, and he even kisses Sophie when he takes her away.)
