I grew up in Seattle area (west coast of US) and moved to Idaho a few years back for school.

hello from Maui Hawaii where the weather is always beautiful and we only have a small theater. can`t have everything! You're right... they have some local theatres but not much good stuff going on. Aren't they going to do Sweeney Todd and Urinetown soon though?

I'm from Northern Ireland! And I wish I lived in England. *sigh* I really live in the middle of no where. The closest living thing (besides the people in this house) next to me is a cow out in the field.

I only now thought to vote in this - Finland here. Which I hopefully was correct in interpreting as Western Europe.

Well I would say Finland as Eastern Europe... Since you have Eastern Europe and Russia...and Finland is far much closer to Russia than, lets say, Italy.
By the way, greetings from Portugal!

Finns tend to go "Grrrr" whenever anyone suggests we're Eastern Europe, because of the connotations that has with Eastern Europe being the Soviet bloc during Cold War and now being only starting to get into the liberal Western system - certainly not meaning that any countries in that part of Europe are somehow less worthy (on the contrary, I'm fascinated by many of them), just that our situation was and is different from them. But it's always been a bit unclear how to define where we are. Gets so much easier when you can say northern Europe and not worry about east or west. Anyway, the original definition of Eastern Europe for this thread was "countries not originally in the EU" and after some thinking, I figured it'd have to be the countries that were in the EU in the beginning of 1995 when the actual European Union (instead of the European Communities) was created, because otherwise that category could only include the original six EC member states + UK and that's a bit of a narrow definition... Though no offence meant to the creator of the thread, I still find that definition a bit shaky because it would technically leave Switzerland and Norway in Eastern Europe, which doesn't make much sense.
