It's supposed to be released some time in 2010. www.imdb.com/title/tt1262426/I'm nervous for the people making this. I really hope they don't mess it up.

Am I the only one here who can't stand Wicked and is going mad with the rivers of crappy-musical-films that are beeing made lately (Mamma Mia, the upcoming RHS revival and MFL revival, now Wicked)? What are they going to come up with next? Legally Blond back to film? ;D (MFL and RHS more because they are ruining masterpieces already achieved in the old versions.)

Um, well I hope this time they go for 'proper' musical performers who can *sing*. Idina could be a possibility if she wants to do it again as she did 'Rent' and has a wider profile these days.
I just hate getting musicals where the actors cannot really sing:( We have plenty of real talent out there who can both sing and act but just aren't 'names' on TV or film and seem, therefore, to be in the background of such films rather than where they belong, upfront taking the lead! OK, rant over!
MFL = My Fair Lady

Yes you're the only one with the Wicked problem. It's a fantastic show! Schwartz's explosive music and lyrics with stunning casts, and wonder sets & lighting. But you're not the only one with the problem of Movie Musicals as of late. Apparently they seem to be back in. After a major death from 80s to 00s we seem to be inundated with them now. However. I think this show could be done quite well... To me it has Tim Burton written all over it. But he's busy with Alice in wonderland at the minute. I don't think they really need to cut any numbers from it. Because it's not exactly over-run with them. Hairspray and Mamma Mia turned out ok, so why can't this one. So I'm remaining optimistic on this movie. RHS = Rocky Horror Show

I won't believe this only based on IMDB... Don't forget they have a page for the Aspects of love movie which actually never happened... If I see something more concrete, then I'll decide if I want to worry of to rejoyce...

Same, I'm not too sure I believe this atm...I think it could be good though, providing they cast the right people & not some well-known actors who can't sing. :S

I still think is a crappy show with horrible music and story ;D I like some of Schwartz's music, specially the one he's came up for Disney, but all his other works just sound...very bad...to me. (Godspell springs to mind apart from Wicked)

I think it is the most uninspired thing Schwartz has ever written next to Working and I normally adore his work.

I looked around a few other places and tried to find more evidence, but nothing came up. But again, when done right, this could turn out very good. And, death, I never thought about what this would be like as a Tim Burton film. And you're right! A lot of people are saying this should be done with a little of the novel's darkness to it (and I personally agree with them) and Burton would be an AWESOME choice if that's the angle they go for. Fantasma: I totally think you're right about MFL and RHS. Those should be left alone. *crosses his fingers for the next one-and-a-half years*
