4 hours is definitely too long ! Well, I'm hearing that they've cut anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes (a couple message board posts say 30 min. gone, but another person specifically mentioned the show going down at 11:20 which is only a 10 min. difference from first preview), so its' hard to tell short of going again myself - and that's not going to happen unless someone else is paying.

This looks to be something special according to early reviews fomr those attending preview If by "special" you mean "long, dull, and forgettable", then Gone With The Wind is something "special" indeed. Hopefully Sir Trevor can earn his undoubtedly large paycheque and flog this dreary horse into shape before the critics to attend, because if he can't this one will be gone with the summer tourists. Are you saying this because you've seen it or is this just a guess? Lets all remember that most musicals are long when they first open... editing still needs to be done, but just because the length is concerning doesn't mean the material is all horrid.

Lets all remember that most musicals are long when they first open... editing still needs to be done, but just because the length is concerning doesn't mean the material is all horrid. Saying that because I've seen it and met up with a number of other people who've seen it since and the feeling is mutual: the show is too long (Trevor Nunn has cut 20 min. since first preview, he has 10 days to find another 30 min. to remove before press night), the music is bland and forgettable, the set dull, the dialogue even moreso. I can remember *one* line from *one* song and *none* of the music. All I remember is cast members droning on and on about "Scarlett raised her head and looked at Rhett" and being bored out of my skull. Now, if someone wants to comp me for press night, I'll gladly go back and rejudge the frozen show, but there's no way I'll pay to see it again.

Darius was busy promoting this on GMTV yesterday and was on the front cover of Weekend magazine (free with Daily Mail) this week. Looks like they are trying very hard to get bums on seats.

As a fan of the movie I wasn't expecting the London show would 100% hit the spot for me but i was pleasantly surprised. Darius was great, very dashing! Hopefully people won't be put off by the reviews as the show is definitely worth seeing, especially if you like the book/film to start with. They had a great souvenir stall in the theatre with lots of new stuff, not just the old Vivien/Clark images - check out the site gonewiththewind.sandbag.uk.com/Store/DisplayItems.htmlVery cool if you're looking for some new things for your collections!

Very cool if you're looking for some new things for your collections! Shill? Majorly? The critics hated it, the word of mouth is awful, it's still too long and over-narrated, and it's on TKTS less than two weeks post opening which means people aren't buying tickets. It will be a miracle if this show stays open until Christmas.

I think you sound too much like an advertisement, no offense. But if this message is just to market the show it must be desperate.

If the high point of Darius is that he's dashing well what does that say for the songs?

If the high point of Darius is that he's dashing well what does that say for the songs? There's nothing memorable about the songs, which is the problem. Darius himself actually got decent comments from the critics, and I certainly didn't have a problem with him (or the cast in general). It's a case of good people bad material. Which reminds me, I need to go to Dress Circle's shop with the stars day so I can congratulate Linzi Hately on the 20th anniversary of Carrie.

I'm sure this will be a hit song:
"Wounded soldiers are physical wrecks, but at least they're members of the opposite sex"
Lol
Worst lyrics ever but mind you at Sydmonton Phantom the lyrics were bad but they changed and were better.
Ie: I could bring you flowers to mingle with your hair but what good would be flowers? They only last for hours.
