Has anybody heard anything about this yet? I just heard about it today and I have to say I'm very excited! " Trevor Nunn has signed on to direct a new musical adaptation of Margaret Mitchell's classic novel Gone with the Wind. The curtain will go up on the show at the New London Theatre in April 2008, with booking opening in September this year. Producer Aldo Scrofani of Columbia Artists Theatricals in New York has been developing Gone with the Wind with Nunn and composer/lyricist Margaret Martin for more than three years... There are too many adaptations of "Gone With The Wind" into a Musical:
1977 Takarazuka Moon Troupe's Version
2003 Autant en Emporte le Vent
It sounds interesting though but its been a source material for either a play or Musical for a long time.

I think there was one English musical version of GWTW in 1972 or so. Which, obviously, wasn't a success...
I'm surprised to see they're producing this musical to the New London Theatre!! I haven't been in this theatre after CATS closed, but if the stage is still the same, stage in the turntable surrounded by the seats, then this sounds a bit odd as it won't allow any set changes on the turntable area. But I've heard they've re-built the interior after CATS left the house... don't know if it is true.

Well first of all, Gone with the Wind is not musical material to me. The story is too stupid to be turned into a musical of interest, but... Then, there's already Presgurvic's Autant en emport le Vent...wich is a really bad musical. So, lets see what will come up with this english production. But I'm not interested at all in this musical...

I think some of the problems with her in Curtains are due to directing choices, not deficiencies in her abilities.

Hope you're right, but already the way she spoke in CURTAINS was soooo irritating!

hi, GWTW opened for previews on the 5th April - there are videos, and photos of the cast on www.gwtwthemusical.com Rhett and Scarlett can be seen in the famous pose of Gable holding Ohara, and there are photos of rehearsals, videos of the cast and theatre set and a few great ones of JIll Paice and Darius Danesh in costume This is a TRUE adaptation of the novel, it is the first time the Mitchell estate has let the copyright go for a musical(other productions couldn't be true to the book and got round it by not being the same story) This looks to be something special according to early reviews fomr those attending preview

This looks to be something special according to early reviews fomr those attending preview If by "special" you mean "long, dull, and forgettable", then Gone With The Wind is something "special" indeed. Hopefully Sir Trevor can earn his undoubtedly large paycheque and flog this dreary horse into shape before the critics to attend, because if he can't this one will be gone with the summer tourists.

4 hours is definitely too long !
Although I love the movie and I really wish this musical to be a success.
