Very much looking forward to this DVD! I can't wait to see what they did to fix all the sound problems And what about Idina's lyric flubs all over the place? I'm really looking forward to Kerry's SOmeone Else's Story and her belting in Endgame (whoa... did I just say I was looking forward to Kerry Ellis? I feel dirty...!) And Josh's Anthem... I seriously thought my heart was going to explode out of my chest.

And what about Idina's lyric flubs all over the place? Which flubs? The show has simply been re-written for the umpteenth time.

Which flubs? The show has simply been re-written for the umpteenth time. The slurring like a drunk person during Endgame and forgetting the words is the first thing to come to mind

I bought the CD and DVD. I have never really listened to Chess that much. I have the Original Concept Album on vinyl. I must say it's a great show. Though I really don't care for the way Idina Menzel sounds on it. She sounds too weak and childish. That's just my opinion. I love her, but I don't like how she sounds. Also Adam Pascal really doesn't sound like himself. Josh Groban is WONDERFUL as Anatoly.

I have just bought the Chess in Concert DVD and have watched it three times already. It's amazing. One of the best musical theatre recordings I own. Before yesterday I knew very little about it. I was a huge Steps fan in The day and so knew I Know Him So Well. I had also heard Anthem at various variety concerts. I thought the production was good. It was well staged. It was nice to see Aoife Mullholland and Jon Robyns in the chorus. I think the chess board was too far from the audience to really work and they should have put more information about the show on the screen as - during the chess games - it was hard to follow. This leads me on to the worst point about this disk. The dancing during the chess games is so weird. I could do without it. What the hell is going on? What is it representing? It's so confusing. I really dislike it. I think it would have been better just to focus on the facial expressions and emotions of The players. The DVD is amazing quality considering it is for all regions. I was suprised to see scene selections and subtitles too. I think Josh Groban has an amazing voice but it does become a little repetitive. I also think he can't act. There are times when I think his delivery of lines is not powerful enough. He's sometimes sad when he should be happy and doesn't get angry enough in some scenes. He also closes his eyes a lot whilst singing - which is something I really dislike. Idina is my favourite ever Elphaba because her line delivery is so awesome. I think she is great as Florence. Her delivery and acting is just perfect. There are times when she puts a smile on my face because she really gets into character. Yes, I admit there are times when she is awful. Especially during I Know Him So Well. She makes horrible faces and strains herself. Apart from that I really can't fault. I do really like her. She is reunited with Rent movie co-star Adam Pascal. I love his One Night in Bangkok. I never knew it was a rap song. It's a very lively and unique number - probably my favourite. It's so original in a musical. Marti Pellow I really like. I liked him in The Witches of Eastwick and I like him here. Yes, his diction is off but I think he has a very catchy voice. The Arbitar remains one of my favourite songs - and is the best choreographed number. It reminds me of the dancing in We Will Rock You. David Badella is awesome. I really like him. He's perfect and great to watch. He's just an awesome singer and actor. Amazing. Kerry Ellis is incredible as Svetlana. She sings the role effortlessly and really delivers the anger with such intensity that you believe every word she says. I really like her - and I didn't like her in Wicked. Other highlights for me were the romantic songs. I love romantic songs. Heaven Help My Heart was wonderfully sang by Idina. I believed every word. One of the best scenes is the Mountain Duet. It's incredible and Adam does his best performance in this scene - as does Idina. I recommend this to everyone. I didn't look at the plot or know it before watching the concert. It's so easy to follow that I got it straight away. Amazing.

Just watched the DVD. I knew very little of the show honestly. The story didn't interested me and honestly still does. I like the music though, but then again that's my problem with Bjorn...I always like the music until they put lyrics in it (I also loved the music in Kristina Fran Dulemela but the few songs I hear in english were not that good with the exception of You have to be there) even though Chess is Tim Rice. Ok, I don't like ALL the songs, specially those more upbeat songs that sound exactly like something that came out of a ABBA CD (well no wonder...lol). About the Cast... I like the men a lot, they all sung wonderfully. The women...I liked Kerry Ellis (finally found out who on earth she was lol) even though sometimes there seemed to be something weird with the way she spoke...dunno. I liked her still. Same thing can't be said about Idina. I already didn't standed her in Wicked. (The Wicked B'way Cast Recording is probably the right CD to put playing if you want to torture me.) Here Idina didn't improved my opinion on her. Actually she just made deeper my opinion on her: she's awfull. There are so many talented actresses in the USA and on B'way I simply can't understand why on heart this girl is so famous... I saw myself missing Maya Hakvoort deeply while watching Idina...and I think this says pretty much what I felt. Again...it was an ok DVD. Not my cup of tea but the music, at least, is good to hear (the overture specially...)
