though the Hungarian version with Tamas is nice. (but only with Tamas, I can't stand Szylvester's version, but you know that ;D ) Tamás is nice, but Szilveszter is much better. (Some day you will spell his name right. I have great faith in it.)

Its not my fault...I'm so used to write Sylvester (Levay) and he's also hungarian that I never remember the small detail in Szilveszter ;D

I got the CD - I love it, especially Wenn ich tanzen will and Kein Kommen ohne Geh'n - finally a version of that song in German that I actually can listen to! Felix is quite lovely in it. But The Final Dance... The translation isn't among the worst, I think, but it will take a while before I can say for sure, because Felix's accent is quite difficult to make out. I confess that when I started listening to it, and happened to be distracted and not thinking about which song came next, at first I couldn't figure out which language he was singing in! There are many parts I just couldn't hear on my first listening, so I'll have to take the time to listen to it many times at some point and see if I can figure out what each line is.

Yay some one got it. So I take Felix's Accent sticks out like a sore thumb in "The Final Dance". Tell me they they use regular orchestrations or they decide to do all different like "The Shades of Night"? By the way. If it wouldn't be to much trouble, whenever you do figure out "The Final Dance" lyrics. Would you mind sending me a transcript if you get the time?

By the way. If it wouldn't be to much trouble, whenever you do figure out "The Final Dance" lyrics. Would you mind sending me a transcript if you get the time? Sure, I can do that and PM it to you, once I have the time. I just don't guarantee that I will be able make out everything correctly - at least on the first two listens I couldn't make out the second line at all. Felix really should stick to singing in German. I'm not at home right now and can't check with the CD, but about the orchestrations, I think that they were not the regular orchestrations, but they were something I'd heard before in some version... Just can't remember where. I'll tell you when I can remember. There's a good chance that song will end up on YT at some point, I imagine... Someone probably will post it sooner or later.

Well if it's anything like my singable translation, the first 2 lines should go something oike this. "It is an ancient legend, But new to me..." "Two guys who love the same girl, To name her; You!" Am I close?

Well if it's anything like my singable translation, the first 2 lines should go something oike this. "It is an ancient legend, But new to me..." "Two guys who love the same girl, To name her; You!" Am I close? No, because that would have made sense. I still haven't figured out for sure what the second line is, because it doesn't sound like any words I know, but the first line ("Das ist ein altes Thema") seems to be "A classical dilemma". I can PM you my transcription attempt tomorrow. It's not bad, really, but there are parts that make me roll my eyes. I generally love the CD, though. Felix and Annemieke's Wenn ich tanzen will is spirited and different - Annemieke is a different Elisabeth than many, but I like her - and like I said, Felix's Kein Kommen Ohne Geh'n is quite lovely, if a little strange in places. I like Oliver, and love the orchestrations to Die Schatten.

I also purchased the CD, too, and I think it's wonderful. This was my first introduction to Felix as a singer so I thought, "why not?" because it certainly wasn't expensive for me. I agree with Valancy, I love his Keine Kommen ohn Gehen. It's so beautiful. And it's lovely hearing it in German, since I'm really used to the 10th Anniversary Cast one. As for the English song, "The Final Dance", after listening to it a couple times... I've come to a conclusion: I like it. I think it's better than what I've heard, and I think it's up there with the English Kitsch!, but certainly nothing spectacular. I do like it, but I think Felix should really stick to singing in German - since he has a wonderful voice for that. If anybody is interested, it's already been uploaded ... you just need to know where to look. And the lyrics: The classical dilemma, of tragedy. You're torn between two lovers: him and me. They all think you're happy, no one would have guessed. I come to your wedding as a guest. You promised to be faithful to his name. Then why did you invite me all the same? Leaning on his shoulder, smiling fittingly - No one would suspect you'd think of me! The final dance, the final dance, We dance all on our own! The final dance, the final dance - is mine and mine alone! The world is old and tired, The wine gets dead. The colours are all fading - the sun turns red. Nervous eyes are watching everything we do, All the world awaits a rendezvous! The final dance, a final dance, We dance all on our own! The final dance, a final dance - is mine and mine alone! And I wait in the darkness, not inclined to give in. You can't make me a looser, but in the end - I will win! The final dance, the final dance, we dance all on our own! The final dance, the final dance - is mine and mine alone! The final dance, the final dance, we dance all on our own! The final dance, the final dance - is mine and mine alone! A final dance! The final dance! Is mine and mine - ALONE! That is my translation. I can be wrong, but that's what I heard?

The world is old and tired, The wine gets dead. The colours are all fading - the sun turns red. Nervous eyes are watching everything we do, All the world awaits a rendezvous! I think it's "wine turns stale" and "sun turns pale", but it's a bit hard to tell, he kind of swallows those words. Otherwise, I've been hearing what you wrote down. Though it's maybe "our rendezvous". The second line is what I had the most problems with. I'm not sure if the majority of votes is for "treachery" or "tragedy" at the moment. It's not a bad translation. (It's better than Shades of Night, anyway.) There are a few parts I don't like, such as the beginning which is just too complicated and apparently unpronounceable for Felix, and it's not great lyrical genius, but overall it's okay.

Well I managed to listen to the full CD.
1. Der Letzte Tanz - He does it quite well. Better than some past Tods.
2. Wenn ich Tanzen will - Really, Really, Really like it. Very good pair for the song.
3. Kein Kommen ohne gehen - I think I actually prefer this in german now than I do the hungarian. He gave quite a good performance of it.
4. Die Schatten - not impressed. Fabulous orchestrations. But I'm afraid I don't like him on this song. :\
5. The Final Dance - Great translation. Bad vocalist choice. He ain't that good at his pronunciation.
Overall I like the CD. I think Felix is great on some of them. And In others... well... Overkill.

I also really like Wenn ich tanzen will. They go well together and are refreshingly different from the previously recorded versions. Not that I don't like the previous versions, but I enjoy hearing different interpretations that work. I really like Annemieke. She seems to dare to make the role her own without copying someone else, and her way of doing it works. I still prefer the Hungarian version of Kein Kommen Ohne Geh'n, but I don't think anyone expected anything else of me. Still, I think Felix's version may be my second favourite after Szilveszter's. It would be interesting to see this song in some German-language production, just to see how they'd do it and how it would affect the whole musical and the conception of Death to have it included. I actually am not that fond of Felix in Die Schatten either, there's something annoying about the way he does it, but I love the orchestrations and I like Oliver. He has a sensitivity I like in a Rudolf, without overdoing it. I have a theory that it's always Felix who does these English translations so that people would spend so much time trying to figure out what he's saying that they wouldn't have energy left for dissecting whether the translation is good or not. Still, except for a few parts, it's quite a decent translation. I'd love to hear it sung by someone who actually pronounces English well, like Thomas Borchert, or some good English-speaking actor.

Ok problems which I'm noticing with Vaylin's transcript: of Tragedy. of treachery. You promised to be faithful to his name. You promised to be faithful, and bare his name. The wine gets dead. The wine gets stale. The sun turns red.The sun turns pale. Not 100% on the first one but I'm pretty sure it's treachery.
