So, the trailer for the new enstallment of Harry Potter films is finally out.
for higher quality--go to mugglenet.com and there are links
What do ya'll think?
Personally, I could have done with more than just baby Voldemort - but I'm sooooooo excited for this movie. Now that they have a grasp on how to shoot these effing books - they seem to be getting better!!
p.s. SO HAPY that they finally added the "youtube" link option! I've been asking for it for a while!

It seems that almost everyone hates POA! I actually enjoyed it....but that might be only because I love Gary Oldman

I liked POA, except for the long drawn out scenes of Harry walking around the grounds with Lupin.

They also left out a lot in the end, like the explanation of the Marauder's Map and such...

From a visual standpoint, I like POA the best. However, I think it was the worst in terms of telling the story. That film makes me want to bang my head against a wall. JKR obviously doesn't have that much power in terms of the films. I still wish they would have had Terry Gilliam direct the entire series.

That's how I feel about it, too. It's very very beautifully made, but it's really horrible at telling the story. The most important parts are left out or rushed. PoA is my favourite book and my least favourite film. I also didn't like Gary Oldman's Sirius, though that's probably more because of the material he was given to work with. When you're not given proper space for character development, there's not so much you can do. I also don't like the way Harry's parents' generation has been made so much older in the films than in the books. In the books I find it so tragic that their lives were smashed into pieces when they were just over 20 - obviously things like that are no better if you're older, but it's still more tragic when you haven't had so much time to live. The movies just change the context when they all seem to have been in their 30s when it happened. I never got around to seeing OotP the film, maybe I should try to see that before seeing the newest ones... I think they should have waited with the films until all the books were out, though, and had the same scriptwriter and director for all of them (preferably someone else than all the people they've had so far). Wouldn't it be great if the films were made by someone who loves the books and has a vision about how to transfer them onto film? Rather than just people who are hired to do it because the production company wants its money for the films now and not later when the hype about the books might not be quite as big...

I have to disagree with you here. It's your duty as an actor to develop your character. Let it be a background character or an underwritten main role. You must develop it. A true actor works with what he or she is given. And if you can't deliver your portrayal well, then you've failed as an actor.

Sad to say I totally love the books but agree with Death about the character thing. I've had some AWFUL scripts and turned my character into someone decent... you have to work your ass off... that's all.

And if you can't deliver your portrayal well, then you've failed as an actor. I don't disagree with that, I was mainly trying to avoid bashing Oldman too much when I don't really know if my problem was with his portrayal or simply with the fact that Sirius is my favourite character and was scripted and directed horribly, so I was bound to be disappointed anyway. I haven't been able to make myself see the movie again to figure out whether the problem was really with Oldman or just with the material he was given to work with. I'm sometimes too easily vicious towards people who ruin things I love, so I occasionally try to curb that tendency. Especially when it's been so long I'm not sure how well I remember it. I'm not sure if it was specifically Oldman's portrayal that I hated, or just the way the character generally was treated. I suppose I should see OotP to figure that out... Of course, since I also failed to like Oldman's Dracula, it could be I just don't like his acting, period. Though I do remember liking his Beethoven, but I don't remember much of that...
