Yes...why is this production so...ugly? Kupfer staged a thrilling, unprecedented production in Vienna....how did he go from that to this?

In the case of Broadway, I think POTO's biggest draw is tourists. I absolutely agree. I've seen the show several times on Broadway and only on two of them did I really think it was more of a 'fan' audience than tourists: the anniversary performance (I think it was its 16th year) and the night when it became the second-longest running Broadway show, which were actually within ten days or so of each other.

Oh well...unfortunatly he won't leave on time to save what's left of Rudolf for the DVD...and we'll have to bear with him in both roles. Although apparently people who saw him in Berlin and then in Rebecca said he was better in Elisabeth than in Rebecca

I heard him in Rudolf and my ears just didn't bleed thanks to hours on YouTube watching American Idol ;D

Is it a denial, deeper than a friggin' Mariana Trench, or just a need of cash?

I really don't know. I thought that maybe with Marika's demition the new manager would call him to reason, but now I see that perhaps he sacked Marika out 'cause she probably had the guts to tell him he was just being ridiculous...so I guess it's denial. I don't think he's exactly poor or in need of more money.

I don't think he's even considering ending his career. As a matter of fact, he's stolen both the preview and the premiere in Frankfurt from Oliver Arno (who is actually first cast "Tod" during this tour). Just have a look at his schedule:
December the 18, 2009, 4.30 p.m. (preview) and 9 p.m. (premiere) December the 22nd, 2009, 8 p.m. December the 23rd, 2009, 8 p.m. January the 2nd, 2010, 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. January the 3rd, 2010, 2.30 p.m. and 7 p.m. January the 12th, 2010, 8 p.m. January the 13th, 2010, 8 p.m. January the 14th, 2010, 8 p.m.
But there again, no reason to cry blue murder, I guess: Alice Macura, too, has been ripped off in an even meanier way during the Berlin run of the show.

I don't think he's even considering ending his career. He should. Ohh he should to consider either ending his career or shutting his mouth for some long period of time. When he started to blab about changing the ways of his career I thought that he came to his senses at last. But nooo... Herr Kroeger remains happily dissociated from reality. Arrrgh. Peachy. Just peachy. Another production of "Elisabeth" (after Berlin) I will have to try to forgot it ever existed. (Forgive me folks if I massacred the grammar in last sentence)

She was "allowed" to play the lead 50 times, but, in return, she had to consent to be paid as much (rather few) as any other ensemble singer. She was also advised to make no fuss about it. If she did, it wouldn't have been advantageous for her career.
