I know, we're just that fantastic. But how do you read it? I mean, it's in Finnish.

I use this translator free-translation.imtranslator.net/Very convenient! After all, I don't speak German either. Whether conversations happen in Deutsch, Magyar, or Finnish, it's all "Greek" to me. :-)

Oops, I clearly need to pay attention to what I say there, if its meanings can actually be figured out by non-Finns, too. Maybe I'll test that translator on our page some time to see what kind of result it yields - I'm a little suspicious of any machine translations on our words, being that we're well-read and snarky lasses with nuanced vocabulary. But perhaps those things work better than I realise - I have used a similar one on Hungarian texts with fairly good results in the past. And I'll soon look through my Tibor-Alfred review and see how much b*tchiness there is to be edited, and if there public version ends up being very different from the original, I promise to send Albert the original one, too. Could be it isn't so bad really, though.

Thanks for the link. I like Thomas hair and for what I can figure out the costume too. I HATE the nails though...what's up with that!!?? As for Marjan, she looks odd with the red hair. In the picture it passes 'cause they obviously "fixed" her face...but on stage? with that new over-taned look of hers, red hair and a red dress I fear she'll look more like a red spot rather than a character...

I think Thomas's wig is attached a bit too high on his head, but it'll probably look better in an actual performance. At least I hope so. Yeah, I'm not sure about the red hair against Marjan's complexion... It looked great on the Hungarian Zsanett who is a redhead naturally, but Marjan has very different colouring... However, I hope that with the make-up and the lights they'll make it look good on her anyway. The colours of the dress and the hair are quite stunning as such, if they'll just fit the actress.

"I think it would be the best if he and the sponge went backstage to pursue their affair together and let the audience focus on the more interesting characters. Though the sponge would probably be bored, but better it than us." Valancy, thank you so much for that review. It was the funniest thing ever. I enjoyed it so much. You also have some great insights into the Alfred character that I never thought of before (ie. For Sarah as a process of finding inner strength, seeing the humanity of vampires in the crypt). You've really given this a lot of thought. I must admit though, while I understand what you mean about Tibor not looking like an Alfred, the first time I saw the pictures, I thought how perfect he looked for the role. He and Krisztina in this picture really epitomized for me how the pair should look www.vampirokbalja.com/galeria/galeria_16/13.jpgAlthough, with the newest cast pictures, I'm inclined to favor Adam and Dora from these pics. They just look so fresh and appealing www.vampirokbalja.com/galeria/galeria_46/032.jpgand www.vampirokbalja.com/galeria/galeria_46/033.jpgJust out of interest, have you ever come across another Alfred you don't like or is this a very special case?

Alfreds - I'm dreadfully picky on them. But, I have only seen live the four Hungarian Alfreds plus Lukas Perman in the TAC. My opinions on the rest are based on recordings and *cough* material that shall not be specified, and the impression is always much more powerful when you see someone live. But in general, the only Alfreds I wholly accept so far are Aris Sas and three of the Hungarians (László, Gyuri, Ádám) - everyone else is somehow off for me. But there are a lot that I haven't seen enough to form an opinion of (or at all).
I'm glad you enjoyed my review! I've somehow ended up thinking about Alfred's character a lot when comparing the different Alfreds, why I like some and don't like others. Tibor was a very enlightening experience in why certain things work and certain things don't, why his flatness in some scenes was a huge problem and why the others have been so much better. I seem to have some very specific standards for good Alfreds - and then there are a lot of people who don't think about him the same way at all, for whom it's just enough that he looks cute and has a pretty voice.
Yeah, Tibor does look a whole lot more "sweet and clueless and innocent" in that pic than he did live. Though to me there's still something wrong about his appearance there. It's a bit difficult even to describe. I just think Alfred in general shouldn't be someone who's likely to know he's good-looking, and who the girls would definitely have been running after - which I think is the case with Tibor, or for example Lukas. For me Alfred should be someone cute with personality, like László or Gyuri - someone who's dreadfully cute but with whom it's conceivable they wouldn't be aware of it themselves. In that respect Ádám is a bit too pretty, too - but he's so precious I forgive him. He was so perfectly Alfred-like in expressions and gestures and how he behaved that his appearance worked, too. His looks have enough boyish innocence, and he's just sooooo sweet.

Can I just say that eclipsis is my favorite Tanz board? I think you girls are the real experts on this show. There are plenty of other boards like the one in the fanclub. Although they are the fastest when it comes to info, I find very few opinions apart from the generic, so and so was "great" or "sweet" or "really good." These feelings are rarely ever qualified or explained. Eclipsis has character analysis, design comparisons, historical background, etc etc all told through straightforward honest opinions with a sprinkling of humour. Keep it up :-) Thanks for the feedback! We're trying to keep up the quality. I agree with Valancy about Tibor. I have the same favourites as she has, but on the un-Alfred-ish side I have Max Niemeyer who I saw in Hamburg and who bugged me to no end. He didn't seem to have very many brain cells, and though Alfred isn't the most intelligent character out there, IMO he's still not stupid and he can think. If someone has read the Beetle Bailey comics and knows a character called Private Zero, Max!Alfred reminded me a lot of him. This far I love the look of the Vienna production. Marjan looks annoying, but that's no news if you know my opinions. Krolock's wig is apparently still in its rehearsal-look and looks a bit uncombed, but if I know my designers it'll look great in the show. They could show us a bit less of Herr Borchert's forehead, though...

Ahh, I love the sets and costumes! It's wonderful to see Thomas without the usual German panda-look, now he looks beautiful. Especially after seeing the Hungarian production again last weekend ( ;D ) I'm curious to see what I will think of this production and Thomas Borchert. The Hungarian production is relatively small and has a very personal atmosphere, and they honestly have two of the best living Krolocks there. I want to see if I still like Thomas in the role as much as I used to. If he manages to be in Vienna with all his side projects...

Thanks for the link! Here's one video with some press rehearsal footage and another from the premiere with some bows. I love the new sets and costumes. They're just on the limit of being too over-the-top, but they still aren't. Instead, they have the perfect amount of over-the-topness for the musical. And I love the colours. Btw, they have changed the final scene a bit. Now Alfred and Sarah and in the end also Krolock join the dance, all in gothic clothes.

Are the sets even new? They look A LOT like the hungarian ones... And didn't Alfred and Sarah joined the dance on the B'way production? Also the city in the background is like the B'way version...though this time it's Vienna. And Thomas looks way too much like a young Steinman with those heavy-metal-gothic cloths doesn't he? lol Thanks for the links too ;D
