I think we need an "official" Rebecca thread now because VBW just announced that the musical will re-open in Raimund Theater on September 6th 2008. I must say I'm a bit surprised, but yay for Rebecca!

Yes!!!!!!!!!! I was a bit worried with the fact that I could miss the show this year (wich I don't intend to do). I guess this means that Rebecca is not a bad show as somepeople says (I've read horrible reviews on the show). For the time beeing, I'll keep praying that they release the full Album and the sing along as soon as possible (note that my prays are beeing attended:P) ;D
Edit: Ah, and it seems that they will not open the Ronacher with Marie Antoinette.

Very good news! There're really interesting productions planned in Vienna! Do you think the cast will change when they reopen Rebecca? Edit: Ah, and it seems that they will not open the Ronacher with Marie Antoinette. As far as I know, it was never planned to open the Ronacher with MA, but with Rudolf!

Wow, I was not expecting that either! Good for them! ;D
Of course, I'm still planning on seeing it before they close in December.

Well I don't know if it will all change, but it is possible. For me, as long as they keep Susan as Mrs. Danvers, they can change the rest, I don't care. It would be good if they kick Casper out of the role. As for Uwe, it is possible that he steps out, since I guess he will be invited to other projects. They could replace him with, for example, Thomas Boechert. As for Marie Antoinette, it was as possible as Rudolf. I must say I really doubt they will stage Rudolf, since it was suposed to be staged after Rebecca, in this years fall...then the extended Rebecca until the end of the year, and placed Rudolf in the beggining of 2008. Now in the beggining of 2008 they will stage We Will Rock You, and then Rebecca again...the Ronacher opens with the Producers so...It looks they gave up Rudolf. I really must say I would rather have Marie Antoinette instead of The Producers, since I really want to see her in german, because the Japanese version didn't convinced me a bit. Andreas: That is great! But in Scandinavia wich country will it be? Finland possibly? Rebecca is also planed to open in Japane in 2008 as far as I've read somewere. Anyway I just want more CD's of Rebecca. One isn't enough. Ahhh and they could open Rebecca here in Portugal as well (at least I'm trying to bring her here )

It will probably go, but I have a feeling that the lyrics will be translated by Kunze itself, since he doens't want another flop like Dance of the Vampires. That is why I guess it will take some more time. If someone ruins the lyrics of Rebecca, I'm going to kill the responsable!!! BEWARE!!! lol

but michael crawford isn't a bad actor, isn't he? i heard that the lyrics were awful and the libretto was changed in a horrible way.

demica: Michael Crawford is good if he sticks to Phantom. He played Von Krolock as a stupid stereotyped gay vampire. Klarinette: It was also the lyrics...with one or two exeptions. And they rechanged the meaning of the great part of them. Michael Kunze could try to get Tim Rice in my opinion...

Hmm, Rebecca coming to Scandinavia sounds promising, but if it's to Finland, then they'd better get a good translator this time. The guy who translated Elisabeth certainly mustn't be given another job. Ever. Or I will do evil things.
I don't know about Kunze translating the libretto if it went to London, it's one thing to translate to your own language and another from your own language to another. But he could verify the translation is acceptable, certainly.

Yes, of course he will not be able to translate everyting to english, but since Rebecca was first planed to premiere in London, probably he has some of the musics translated. Were the Finnish translation of Elisabeth that bad? Well, if the translation keeps bad in Rebecca Valancy, tell me, I'll go there and we can join forces to do evil things to the responcible!
