I would like cast recordings IF they were maded in a special show...for example: in the begginig they would ask the audience to just aplause only when the music finnished completly, and just when the audience stoped claping their hands they would start the next song... At that point you may as well stick everybody in the studio and have them do a run through. As others have said before, the audience reaction is part of the live experience. Stripping that away or dictating to the audience as you suggest is an insult to the event. I, for one, look forward to a live recording, noise and all.

I think live recordings are just a joke...if they want us to hear the "live experience" they may as well release a DVD...I think it is stupid to hear a music with aplauses without even see WHY are the audience aplauses. That is why I don't buy Takarazuka CDs...I have the DVD I don't need to hear the same music with the same aplauses but the disadvantage of not seeing. If they release a live recording it would just make sence after a DVD...so that people who like to hear it with the noise and all of that can have an alternative to the DVD... Since they are not releasing a DVD of Rebecca, I rather have them releasing a studio full Album...and leave the lives and the aplauses for later. But that's just my opinion and wish

as for the fact that it's a live recording...I didn't read that in the site. It just sais there is a Gesamtaufnahme comming out...it doesn't say that will be live "Wegen des anhaltenden Erfolges von REBECCA wird es auch eine Gesamtaufnahme geben. Der Veröffentlichungstermin steht allerdings noch nicht fest. Auch Carsten Lepper als Jack Favell wird auf dieser Aufnahme zu hören sein. Geplant ist eine Live-Aufnahme inkl. aller Sprech- und Gesangstexte. Mehr INFOS dazu demnächst an dieser Stelle bzw. vorab im Fanclub." ( www.carstenlepper.de )

Thanks...although in the text says...there will be a Gesamtaufnahme. And a Live-Aufnahme. It may be interpreted as it will be two: a studio Gesamtaufnahme and a Live-Recording. But then again...it can be just me using Law interpretation tecnics in everything lol (College fault!)

Those are some pretty awful lyrics. And Jim Steinman wrote them himself, yes? The English book and lyrics were written by David Ives. Jim Steinman had some influence on them though.

Edit:And notice, PotO full Original London soundtrack is not live recording and has the Entr'Akt But the full OLC Phantom of the Opera is not quite all of the show - there are a couple of minor scenes and dialog missed off the CD

although in the text says...there will be a Gesamtaufnahme. And a Live-Aufnahme. Not really. It says that, because of ever increasing demand, there will be a "Gesamtaufnahme", which will be a live recording. Trust me. If you want to know why you should trust me, please write me a PM.

Well that's a shame then...VBW is torturing me...."Here you go...a live recording...what? aplauses but no image? A DVD? Oh sorry we're fresh out of that..." I'm going to sue them in International Court for attempt of torture and violation of human rights!!!!!
(note: That was a joke... We never know were there isn't a member of VBW reading this and thinking that I'm beeing serious. Although I'll be angry because if live and not studio. I specialy hate the idea of hearing aplauses in the beggining and ending of the "Rebecca" songs.)

There probably won't be applause at the beginning of any of the "Rebecca"s because they all follow dialogue, if I remember correctly. I would hope there is applause when each is over, though...

In the beggining of the 1st Rebecca song (Das ist ihr Bet) won't be 'cause is dialog. In the end it will be, because it changes to Wir sind Britisch. The reprise of the 1st Akt will have in the ending, but I can hope that just as the music ends, cause it is the final of the Akt. In the 2nd Rebecca song (Nachts in dem Haus) at the beggining will not, but in the end it will have 'cause, though it changes to Nur ein Schritt, people always aplause in the end of that song. In the 2nd reprise it may not have in the begginig, and HOPEFULLY not the end (I think this one is the one thal will depend mostly on the audience)

Well the "Aspects Of Love" OLC has the whole entire bulk of the score plus dialogue and the remastered version contains previously unreleased tracks that wasn't in the original release. The OBC of "Nine" now has the full score plus spoken dialogue that wasn't previously released in the original release as well. Unfortunately, the POTO OLC remastered didn't do the same thing. But on topic, at least its a full recording and like both Elisabeth 1995 and 2005, its live.

That's why I don't like the recordings (Although the 1995 at least the public doesn't aplause in the end neither of Der Letzte Tanz nor in the end of Eine Kaiserin muss glanzen.) The Elisabeth CD I ear the most is a Myself maded one lol I pit the diferent CDs and select the favourite musics of all and join them toghether in a CD (the same with my mp3) It will be sad, but in Rebecca is a live one, then I'll have to do the same... By the way, and I know this is off topic (Brae, Lora forgive me) why wasn't there a full recording of Mozart! ?

By the way, and I know this is off topic (Brae, Lora forgive me) why wasn't there a full recording of Mozart! ? I am not sure but I think because it is not as popular as Elisabeth, Tanz der Vampire and Rebecca.Milady probably has an answer to this one. There are complete Japanese Cast recordings and one highlights(either recording has Yuichiro Yamaguchi and 2 Takarazuka Stars Kouju Tatsuki and Maki Ichiro respectively).

I actually like live recordings. I think it's fitting for theatre. I'm not a fan of the cds that seem overly mainipulated or poorly done. An example would be the Essen recording of Elisabeth. I would have loved if they had done a live recording instead. I think the cd poorly showcases the cast.
