I quite agree! It's great that they are noticing that there are also other musicals than those which have been done a thousand times before, and are daring to take something that is not so well known but is genuinely good. I also didn't like their Evita so I hope that this will be much better made. It's a promising development that they're starting to look into newer, good musicals with a strong story, and not just the things they already know will be popular. I am certain that Finns could appreciate much more varied musicals, if the producers just dare to take risks of bringing something that isn't well known.

By the way...do they normaly do press conferences, dress rehearsels or anything that may end up on YouTube? Not usually, but closer to August there will probably be a video commercial online with clips from the show.

Not much. Well, there might be a press conference, there also were a couple of such short clips for Elisabeth. And sometimes theatres have open doors nights for rehearsals during art festivals, but I don't know what are the chances of those being filmed. While the premiere gets near, there might be something on cultural news on the TV with a bit of video footage. But it's very uncertain. I hope that the theatre realises that since the musical is not yet known in Finland, they'll have to advertise it a lot all over and perform songs from it on TV and in public concerts etc. to ensure as much public as possible. But often the theatres in Finland don't realise all the things they could do to advertise their musicals... We'll see.
EDIT: And yeah, an online video commercial is quite possible. Also maybe some short TV commercial, but I'm not sure - I watch so little TV that I never know what they actually put there.

I recently saw a TV commercial of Cats in Lahti and nearly fell off of my chair. Yeah, advertising isn't what it could be... I've sometimes caught a Making Of document of HKT's musical on TV but they don't tell about them beforehand, the documents are just a part of some random little news program and it's almost impossible to know when they will show it.

Honestly, we need to take over the communications departments of the theatres here.

There's a bit of the main song "Rebecca" already on the website, sung in Finnish (Thanks to Cia for telling me that ;D )

Any Finnish care to comment? Rebecca, nyt missä lienetkään (Rebecca, wherever you are) On sielus niin kuin merten tyrskyt, vaahtopäät (Your soul is like the storms and waves of the sea (sounds better in finnish)) Kutsun kuulet, se tuulessa soi (You hear the call, it's echoing/playing/... in the wind) It's good, at least on Finnish standards (there are verbs!). Sari Ann Moilanen should be a bit more threatening, but it's only some demo clip so she has lots of time to improve.

Also, there are no unnecessary bits! All the syllables actually have a meaningful reason to be there, rather than being just fillers! I would have liked to hear how the translation of the next lines went, too.
I like her voice a lot, I think there's a lot of chance for her to become really good. She just needs more time to practice - probably this is just some early demo version where she hasn't had so much time to work on interpretation yet. She's of course not going to be Susan - she is her own person and will have to do the role in her own way, like everyone else.

I aprove the translation! I really liked it (once again thanks Cia) and I can't stop repeating over and over again "Kutsun kuulet, se tuulessa soi". Really love the way it sounds ;D

I remember seeing it too! It was before I saw CATS in Helsinki and after I saw the show, I was so mad not seeing the documentary again, since that show was the one that got me interested in (= obsessed with) the musical theatre.

There are now more photos in the theatre's newest advertising magazine (pages 8-11). The visual side looks quite Vienna-ish and nice, though Ich's wig is a bit bushy. The costumes and sets are likely to change a bit before the premiere in about two weeks, though.

Thanks for pointing this out, I don't get that magazine at home. I agree it looks nice, though I also don't like Ich's wig. Somehow that theatre has a tradition of making a mess of blond wigs because I'm still traumatized by the horrid Fantine wig in Les Mis many years ago. I wonder why they couldn't just have the Ich actress cut her hair to a suitable style for the time that she plays the role... Or maybe they just want to emphasise that Ich looks a bit awkward and non-glamorous, I don't know.
