The blond wig isn't really bothering me that much. I don't think it removes anything from the show. I have been previously traumatized by wigs in Kunze's musicals in Finland so I tend to pay attention to them. The Death's wig in Elisabeth looked like someone could have wiped the floor with it and Rudolf could have been in The Beatles. HKT should have better wigmakers, though. In general the production does look nice and I like for example Ich's nightgown-bathrobe-whatever. I'm getting excited about the production. *bounce* Luckily two weeks will go fast. (Especially when I've got a ton of things to do and too little time. )

I wasn't saying it particularly removes anything from the show, it just sticks out in a wrong way. Ich isn't supposed to be a great beauty, but the hair of the Vienna Ichs looks more natural. Perhaps because it is.
I am, of course, quite excited to see what comes out of this. Even if the production won't be good it will at least be interesting to see how it's done, and probably it will at least be okay.

I go away, and this stuff gets printed! I honestly like Ich's hair even if its a wig. I never liked the Vienna haircute so this is already an improvement. The sets seem like Vienna but then again, there's just a picture of the Hotal in Monte Carlo. The thing that bothers me the most is that...thing...around Sari's dress. I have nothing against the white in Danvers costume, but that thing around the neck seems a bit too much. On the other hand if the girl with the tie is Beatrice she looks pretty fun and modern ;D Now the guy that plays Maxim...is he the one who played Tod? He seems pretty similar...

Nope, he's not our Death, though they do look a bit similar. Sari's dress bothers me a bit, too, but I'm going to wait and see how it looks like in the theatre before saying anything more. I think the lady with the tie is Beatrice and next to her is Frank Crawley, but they haven't given a more spesific cast list and I don't recognize the actors, anyway, so I can't be sure. It's annoying how far the theatre has to go with equality, the cast is always just in alphabetical order and apart from the three leading roles I have no idea who's going to play who. Except that I heard that the alternate Maxim will be the guy who played Gaston in their Beauty and the Beast, and he's been good in the roles I have seen him.

Yeah, tell me about it. And of course, foreign musical websites don't realise this and keep listing the first few people from the cast list as the most important actors, though probably most of them are random ensemble members... And so many theatres in Finland do this, right now I'm trying to guess what the cast list is going to look like in a production of Romeo and Juliet (the play) in Turku. The guy who played Death is cast in one of the roles but I've no idea which one. Funny, I never thought the Maxim-actor and the Death-actor would look at all alike, but maybe that's because I've seen the Maxim-guy on stage several times many years before I even knew of Elisabeth, so I'm used too what he looks like. I also like Beatrice's look (I assume it's her).

There are some photos of the show out at www.hkt.fi/ohjelmisto/kuvat.php?name=rebeThey are very small unfortunatly...BUT...apparently in the Finnish production, you can SEE the portrait of Rebecca. And the sets don't look like the Vienna after all

Thanks, I've been checking the website twice a day but last time there weren't photos yet. The sets look nice, from what I can see from the tiny photos. If the boat house if how I imagine it to be, it looks very lovely. I'm not sure if I like the idea of seeing a picture of Rebecca. After all the point is that you don't see her, you only hear what people say about her and see what Ich thinks she was like.

Yeah this appears to be the boat house About the picture of Rebecca...that I bet is entirely fault of the libretto, because on the libretto it clearly says that Mrs.Danvers is cleaning a huge picture of Rebecca during "Die neue Mrs. de Winter". So blame Kunze for that lol

From what I can tell of those small photos, I like the sets. It'll be interesting to see how they work in action... Less than a week now. They've probably had to do sets less huge and impressive than Vienna, but I like that. I felt the sets in Vienna were too huge and impressive, I sometimes forgot to pay attention to what the characters were actually doing because I was staring at the sets, and to me that isn't really their purpose... I think the show can work with more downscaled but still beautiful sets. Well, we'll see how it turns out in reality.

Oh yes. The other day I and a friend had an interesting time comparing the ways in which the stage directions in the Elisabeth librettos are quite different from what actually happens on the stage.

He imagines the show one way and he writes it. Then a director comes and (hopefully) fixes some of his directions to make the show flow. However he prints his vision...its a way he can say "If the show was a flop, isn't my fault, I imagined it other way" B'way DotV is a very good example of that ;D

I quite like Ich's wig. It's a bit different from what I'm used to, but it's sweet.
